Chilli powder forces evacuation at police station

UPDATE: TWO floors of the Charlotte St Police Station have been evacuated and one staff member hospitalised after the discovery of a suspicious package containing a "highly volatile" form of chilli powder.

It is understood an envelope soaked in liquid was found by a police staffer shortkly before noon.

One police staffer was taken to hospital and two others were treated at the scene.

The ground floor police station remained open, a police spokeswoman said.

``The two floors were evacuated as a precaution,'' police said.

Interesting stuff I spose. Apparently the entire street is closed.

I bet they feel a bit silly that it was just chilly powder. Mind you they can't take risks.

chilli is worse than you think. Some friends road in the tray of a ute that had been used to haul chilli bushes to the dump, and were very sick, taken to hospital with 'everything on fire'.

Also, I work on the corner just up from the Corner of Albert and Charlotte, havent seen anything suspicious, there were some sirens going off around lunchtime though.
