I agree with nF

So apparently Australia are playing Serbia in the soccer. I find it absof***inglutely amazing that I didn't know this game was on until I came home to find it on television currently being played. Did Channel 7 do ANY f***ING PROMOTION for this game at all?

All I've heard about for the last few weeks is about the goddamn smog - maybe they could have mentioned, you know, some of the actual events that were being played.

Edit: also WTF, the game isn't even live.

man that was a sad game; didn't deserve to win IMO but would have been nice if we did. So many errors made by the Australian team. That new magic ball looks like you can kick it a mile?!

apparently its regulation size but r_mazing was telling me it's some magical new design that is lighter? Maybe he was full of s***, because he followed it up with the hilarious statement that it was referred to as the "Great Ball of China", ahahahah aha hah ahah a hah

Hahahahahaha that's awesome, i.e. the exact opposite of that game. I only saw a bit over half of it, but the only time it really came alive was between the 2 goals, the rest of the game seemed pretty dull.

They've changed the wieght? That would surprise me - in Basketball, they regulate the diameter, pressure, weight and even the material the ball is made from (right down to the number of dimples per inch).

Making it hard for us keepers. We used one of the euro balls last weekend. The ball could outdrift maxe it moves so much in the air. On the upside you can kick almost the whole field out of your hands.

maybe it wasn't the weight, but he said it was basically different somehow. I thought the pitch was smaller last night because the ball seemed to be going for f***ing miles further than usual (considering that these guys weren't really exactly pro)

Okay, so here's something that s***s me: When other organizing bodies get involved in the Olympics. Eg, FIFA for the Olympcs and the UCI for cycling. Utter bulls*** that USA Cycling used UCI points as their only selection criterion for selection for the 2004 and 2008 Olympics (which of course resulted in three straight years of Olympic selection for USA Cycling going to court); though having said that, Australia on the other hand used their own criterion for selection, and in both 2004 and 2008 resulted in Chris Jongeward ended up in court over olympic selection.

MLB seem to be sticking their noses into the Olympics too, by stating that no MLB player can compete in the Olympics (because it means for three weeks every four years some teams are without their star players, and they clash with their All-Stars game, when all the stars are over at the Olympics).

lol, nF your ability to read 0/10. See last sentence? i was making a point with my post. In thread you can do whatever you like, but thread titles are a different story. nF= fail.

I can have my own opinion thanks, bad spelling and deafness /=. I have loads of deaf friends (I know sign in 2 languages). Due to being unable to speak well in many cases, deaf ppl often develop excellent spelling and other forms of communication. Ive been here 8yrs, how much longer has superboss been here than that? I have nothing against super and Im loath to have to bring his name into this, but it was used in the explanation for my timeout.

As to the discussion, remember that the Olympics are regarded as an "amateur event. Meaning, some professional regulations can have liberties taken against them. Hence the small changes to ball sizes, weights etc. It is now more difficult on the participants, as sport is far more a full time job for so many different sports now a days and athletes get used to PRO rules and regs. Sometimes it makes it more interesting; sometimes it makes it look really "amateur" just like the many miss hit kicks and passes from the soccer game last night.

If you don't like threads, ignore them and don't post in them. Certainly don't post in them to whine about them sucking, because it's annoying for everyone else that might actually be interested in the thread.

The advantages of this system: if someone posts a thread (that we the mods don't delete because we think it's inappopriate or stupid), if people like it they can post in it and it will bobble around at the top, and if they don't it will slide gracefully to the bottom.

(man this should be a rule)

We are all payed up with the Olympic Committee Licensing Branch for Use of the Word Olympics(tm) or any of the Olympics(tm) trademarks (tm).

Note the last (tm) is not a trademark on the word "trademarks", it's just an abbreviation.

You know it hasn't been a good game when your central defender (Spiranovic) makes the best attacking move all game with his beating 3 men then shooting on goal.

We are going to get bitch slapped sideways by argentina on sunday night after that performance.

It's called a TV Guide. You can find it in the Sunday Mail or online. Best thing about it is you aren't reliant on a TV Channel for your knowledge about what is on as the info is there for you 24/7.

ORLY! I realise a TV guide exists; my point was despite all the blah on TV about the olympics, including by the minute updates on the smog conditions in Beijing, they still didn't find time to mention that the soccer was on.

The Adjusted medal tally is more accurate than the way the Americans always show medal tallies - ordered by medals won. Somehow they think a silver or bronze is equal to a gold medal, so having 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze is better than South Koreas 3 gold and 2 silver. Idiots.

Typical that our only medals so far have come in the pool though.
