How many emails/attachments would it roughly take to generate a file that big?

Unsure.. trying to recover it atm.. For all I know, it could be 3 emails with Girls Gone Wild volumes 11, 12 and 13.

doesn't outlook have a 2GB limit?
I would have thought even change would have a hard time dealing with 10GB of email

heh, my notes was 15gb ~50K+ emails (6 years worth)

now I get 150mb in outlook, gg a****** IT people, it's constantly archiving my s***, which isn't too bad - but I get well pissed off when I can't send an email because I am over the mailbox limit etc

^ Agreed
Seriously people, clean out your mailbox. Why do you need that E-mail your ex sent you four years ago anyway?

learn to print it out and FILE IT if it's actually worth keeping.

speaking of massive .pst files, has anyone had any problems importing 3gb + archive folders from 2003 into Office 2007?

10GB is pretty achievable with the new Unicode format, which is quite often twice the size.

Why would i print out and file it, that's just stupid. I need all my emails so i can account for what i've said, and because i've noticed i'm asked the same questions over and over again. So having them to refer to is a big time saver, if only they were easy to find.

Why did we do such and such when we went live 2 years ago? Because in this email I told your predecessor you should not do such and such, and in this email they said that because of the short time any issues would be dealt with in the future. And in this email you can see it was approved by so and so.

I do about 2gb of email a year at work. I don't think that's a lot when you factor in attachments for deployments, performance charts and screenshots. I also delete s*** i know is not necessary.

The problem with outlook, apart from it being a annoying festering steaming pile of s*** that i'm appreciating a little more now i'm back on lotus notes, is that you can't global search through all your PSTs and subfolders, and even if you could, because it's outlook, it would take less time to do something that takes a frustratingly long time to do.

I would love to have gmail at work. Clean interface. Fast searching, awesome filtering and tags, no more hoping you have put it in the most obvious folder, or having to have multiple copies.

isn't outlook a complete dog with PST's that size?

I archive every 6 months; it's not that common that I need to dig up email more than 6-12 months old.
