Topic: Creature Creator and OFLC ratings

Since we don't have an R rating on games because the OFLC are soft and pander to the general populous who have no bearing or business in the gaming world, what do you think the chances of the game possibly being banned in Australia are?

With a host of cockmonsters, goatsemen and lol-im-f***ing-myself creature videos and pictures doing the rounds, it's sure to attract the attention of some bleeding hearts, concerned parents and every other type of stiff who will inevitably disapprove of the possibilities in the game.

There is a certain amount of justification in the concerned parent arena, but that should come down to parent supervision and prudence.

Then there is the church groups, who might suggest this Darwinian sandox is a tool of the devil himself, showing off his extra large phallus.

Could we possibly lose one of the most highly anticipated multi-platform games in recent years because some people love cock so much?

Could it be considered a valuable learning tool about evolution for kids?

It has to actually ship with that content in it before the OFLC would complain about it. User-created content won't be in the game that the OFLC get to see so I can't imagine this being an issue.

I can draw a penis-monster in mspaint.

Should Windows be rated/censored differently due to this?

after initially bagging this game, i've done some research and had a look around, and it actually seems pretty indepth and interesting. just the overall concept really, progressing from cell to creature to tribe to civilization to space, with different modes of play at each.

wat i dont understand is this creature creator which is available at the moment? how is it related to the game? because what i've seen from the game, you adapt and add to your creature along the timeline of the game, you don't simply model one before hand (as seen in the creator). will they be imported into the game? or is it just to show off the variety that can be seen in the game.

I believe in the later parts of the game when your creatures have the required technology you can create life. That's when the creature creator is fully opened up to you and you can import creatures.

You customise your creature at each point of it's evolution, and the creature creator is the tool in the game that you use to do that.

Also, you can start playing the game at any point you like, so you can create a penis-monster in the creature-editor and then start playing from there.

Id like to point out that the OFLC simply enforce the regulations - the politicians create it. So the wishy-washy, soft standards responsible for no R rating on games have, in reality, not much to do with the OFLC, but everything to do with your local MP. Write them a letter, it is the only way to make change happen (short of a coup, that is).

It's all covered by

...if the game was multiplayer.

This is a single player game with online functionality. I'm sure the game has filters in place where naughty things are tagged nono.

I'm pretty sure WetWired said 'online' and not 'multiplayer'.

If church groups want to complain about it being Darwinian, they'll just show themselves to be f***ing morons. If anything it's teaching Creationism.

As FraktuRe, you never go 'online'. It's like slapping that warning on a game like DMC4, where the only online thing you do is upload your score except in this case the game automatically downloads creatures for you.

you go online to get other peoples creations, they may word it differently but I'm sure they'll have a warning which states something similar. Regardless they have filtering of creations that you can enable or disable "adult" creatures if you want.

"game experience may vary during online play"
that is only on ESRB notices, not OFLC ones
