I just made one.

doesn't the school system teach kids these basic skills in Grade 8 anymore?

on a positive note - we're upgrading our server room to a mini data-center this week :)

I use to use HP racks but that was at my last job. Now I am using APC racks and I really like them. The added bonus is that all the APC Zero U PDUs fit really nicely :) That said, HP PDUs use to fit really well into HP racks too.

We ended up getting one from here:

42RU 800mm Deep Network Server Cabinet

Delivered from NSW total about ~$1200 with fans etc, pretty happy with it :)

why do you want fans on the roof when most devices have front to back airflow?

to help prevent hot air accumulating in the top of the cabinet

roof vents are sufficient for that.

ceiling fans use to be useful when kit didn't standardised front to back airflow and most people had comms racks with glass/plastic/unvented front/rear doors.

these days they are just a waste of power.

'cause I can. I'm doing my bits to contribute to global warming.
