Pub party led to boat tragedy
So let me get this straight. 14 people all boozing up decide to cram on a boat designed to fit 8. 6 of them die and this is a national tragedy. Someone give these people a Darwin award. |

If 14 drunktards got into a truck and smooshed your parents on the highway you wouldn't think infi was being harsh by saying that the loss of those 14 should not be hailed as a national tragedy. I know a family taht lives on a house boat, and they get drunktards hooning through the marina at 3am, causes the whole boat to rock and such, not a big deal - but imagine if the drunktards smacked into the house boat, tore a person into parts... pieces.., and sunk the f***er.
So no I wouldn't be worried about stepping on any toes when it comes to insulting the dead. |

Is it just me or does that math seem way too convenient? Could be Mother Nature's way of telling them they had too many on the boat. |

The boat in your picture isn't the boat that the 14 where on. It is the boat that they crashed into and on which one of the fishermen died. The tragedy here is that the guy driving who "stole" the boat was able to walk away with a few bruises. |

It's a f***ing tragedy because they are mostly kids and lives are going to be seriously derailed because of it.
So the story is a little "shaped" but hey this sort of thing is bad enough without nailing all and sundry (unless the driver was, like, seriously drunk). |

No it's not a tragedy. Their stupidity was rewarded, no innocents hurt, everyone wins. I smell a darwin!

The driver should get nailed whether he was drunk or not (unlikely). He was an 'experienced' skipper and should have known better then to overload that boat. Permissible concentration of alcohol limits are as follows: Since he was just coming from a pub I think it is unlikely he will be under the limit. I am not sure if he would be classed as recreational or commercial since it was a commercial boat operated in a recreational scenario. |

I can't believe the way the media is reporting this. It's disgusting.
Everyone I spoke to is in agreement, why is the media so out of touch? (yes, it's rhetorical.) |

Here in the UK the most common occurrence of death on the water is blokes coming back to their boat in the marina when pissed, going to take a leak over the side and falling in and drowning. The coastguard even have a phrase they use when they find these guys: MOFO- Man Overboard, Fly Open.
Still, i think it IS a tragedy. I'm sure you've all been talked into stuff when drunk you wouldn't do when sober. Getting into a boat with some mates to go for a bit of a night cruiseon the harbour probably sounded like a pretty sweet idea at the time. Now 6 lives are lost because of a bad decision made while drunk. |
