Firstly he does take a piss, and secondly what is he supposed to be s***ting/pissing out constantly, they weren't bringing him drinks and meals in there.

There was a movie like this called "Stuck" and it starred two actors from Stargate SG-1. They have a strange f*** in there right infront of these other people.

Ever done the 40 hour famine? Not too difficult to keep on going, even when you're hungry.

I'd imagine he'd be even less hungry/thirsty seeing as he's not spending much energy.

40 hour famine you can still drink, and you're not locked in a box with nothing to do.
