I am now catching up with the times and am a proud pwner of a 46" SHARP AQUOS LCD TV(LC-46D83X).
PROS: Everthing
CONS: No PiP
Plus got a free Sharp Aquos BluRay Player. From Hardly Normal.

Sorry photography not so good...

Your TV appears to have a knob stuck in the bottom right hand side.

I'm no sparky, but Overload protection is where on a powerboard, it cuts out if your connected devices draw more juice than the powerboard can supply...

So no.

also don't confuse overload protection with some sort of trip switch although they do the same thing by cutting the power they do it in VERY different ways. An earth leakage trip switch will trip in the blink of an eye (less actually) in the event your dumb ass pokes a knife in the toaster where an overload switch might take a few seconds up to a few minutes to "trip" depending on how much more current you're drawing than is meant to be drawn.

I'm not sure what's in the powerboard surge protector things, if it's what I think it is, it's just this little thing that blows if a power spike goes above what it's meant to be and you throw the board away & buy a new one.

I'm thinking about getting the 50" Conica advertised at WOW for $1300. Has Panasonic panel apparently and is the model with digital HD tuner.
Sure its a no name brand I've had a quick google and has had a positive response once its had a play with the settings. I haven't found anything negative bar the rich people saying spend $10 grand instead.

Will go in-store and check it out surely for that price I cant go wrong ay.
Its either that or spend double that for a decent 42' Panasonic or Pioneer which is most likely to happen at this stage, prolly spend the extra and get a 47' tho.

Pretty sure that was only 1366 x 768 resolution, same as my 37". Same principle goes for TV's as regular LCD panels the bigger it is you really want higher resolutions.

It may still look alright but for a screen that size you'd really wanna have the next res up.
