love this game, so much so I want to get some decent equipment
For the life of me, I can't find a quality supplier for anything, from chips/cards to tables I want is a decent set of poker chips with denominations and a few high quality packs of full plastic cards which wont f*** up after a few games, a table would be nice too but really what they're asking (price wise) is total balls considering the construction quality I've seen so far I don't mind paying good money for a good table, I do mind paying good money for a crap quality chinese knock off Don't buy these - http://www.bigshop.com.au/buy/-1000pc-13-5g-HIGH-ROLLER-Holographic-Poker-Chip-set/Other-Sports-Fitness/BIG%2DCLAY1000 Just got mine today and even while unwrapping them the "inserts" fell off the chips, total balls so my question is, where can I buy high quality poker schwag? |

hells yeah I want felt, I actually came across a pretty cheap pool table which was similar pricing to the poker tables I was looking at and I considered using it as a poker table
wouldn't feel so bad if it had more than one use and it should fit on the balcony no worries $499 http://www.winsports.com.au/ebay/ws7f01bac/best no 1.jpg |

Don't think that pool table would work too well for poker, no room for legs.
Out of curiosity, who here plays in a poker league? I play monday nights at the Chalk Hotel in the Australian Masters Poker league. Good league and good place to play as we get 50-60 players each week and a lot of them are on working visas from Europe so get some good conversations (and some hot french and swiss/german chicks). |

a few high quality packs of full plastic cards which wont f*** up after a few gamesBicycles, nuff said. When I got into sleight of hand, I got them bulk from the US for less then $1.50 a pack. They will eventually die on you, but for the time they last, they are EXTREMELY nice to handle (well if you can do magic tricks with them, you can shuffle/deal like a ninja). Plus they are poker size, not bridge size like the majority of aussie cards. If you want to spend a bit more money and not be assed finding Bicycles, go to Toyworld and get 2 x World Poker Tour decks for $12. They are made by the same company, same feel, just SLIGHTLY stiffer/more durable. |

i just play with mates, but my mates are all serious business about their poker
they all place facebook poker (lame) and at redbrick and various pubs regularly we got some decent quality chips (with denominations, clay) and a few sets of decent cards that a mate bought back from las vegas will find out where the chips came from; word on the street is ebay and http://www.novapoker.com.au/ http://www.pokershop.com.au/ also, chubsie not everyone has your sort of disposable income, i know facebook poker isnt worth the time, but apl is real poker against real people last edited by Spook at 00:47:52 29/Mar/08 |

but my mates are all serious business about their pokererrrr? People that play free poker online and free pub games (like APL) are not serious players. There's 1000's of those douches in every suburb thinking they're leet by wearing sunglasses to a free APL poker night. Go to the Casino. |

For cards, definitely 100% no doubt get Copags or Kems: http://www.pokershop.com.au/index.php/cPath/35
They are hands down the shiznit for poker cards, I have copag elites poker size with jumbo indexes. Bicycles are the best cards for magic but will not last, I don't think bicycles are plastic either. Copags will last for absolute ever and they are plastic so you can clean them if they ever get marked. I haven't tried WPT decks but if they are like the WSOP cards they are complete poo in comparison. I'm not as sure about chips, haven't played with any of the supposedly better sets. If I was going to buy some I'd look around for some 14g clay chips that I liked, check out the ones on that pokershop site. I would probably prefer the ones without denominations, but it's hard to really tell online if they are good without having a feel of them yourself. Would definitely be better than what you got though. |

The play at free APL's is a joke, but it is playing for money if you're serious about it. The money you can end up playing for is no joke, 300k for the last dude who won it.
The real problem at the pub gigs is the structure is so fast it's pretty much a gamblefest. |
