Started watching this yesterday and it was quite good. Never been a Terry Pratchet fan, well I haven't read any of his stuff but this was cool. Both parts are out now.

For me, Death is probably the best character in print.

i've seen both eps. pretty low budget n some really terrible acting but i still got some larfs coz its been ages since i read the books & these shows were good for jogging the ol memory. the luggage isn't vicious enough! but the story is tops, a total pisstake on fantasy :D

I watched Hogfather; it was OK but not great. The chick that played Susan was hot as though. I'll check this out cuz I'm a massive Pratchett fan - I have pretty much every discworld book he's written, plus a few others, but I'm not expecting heaps.

Interesting to see they went the Twoflower-has-glasses routine, not the Twoflower-has-four-eyes routine. I was always confused about that, later books seemed to be that he had glasses, but the Color of Magic cover art actually showed a character with 4 eyes.

i use to love watching the discworld cartoons on abc as a kid, but could never get into it enough to read the books. the trailer to the show looks interesting but not interesting enough to get me excited.

For me it was interesting because I was expecting it to just contain stuff from the book "The Colour of Magic" but it turned out to contain a hodge podge of about 4 different books so it is good for a very brief overlook of the discworld series if you have never read them before.

It is at that a very brief glimpse at it all and as such just skims the surface and completely re-writes many sections of those books so as to make it all fit in together better without them having to make a huge series.

So yeah, it was good to see but it lacks much of the depth and nearly all of the humour of the books.

yup i agree with that. a lot of the sarcastic humour in the books doesn't translate well to tv. i notice they nearly left out all the stuff about wizards & smoking... it's not very pc these days i spose :P
