ok so i have a linksys WRT54GL with the latest firmware(i think), no custom s***
moved house on the weekend, got the internets installed today thought sweet plug it all back in and it would be just as it was....... it just won't share internet wireless works, ethernet works but it just won't give out the internet to either of them. i even returned everything to default settings and ran the setup CD it came with, it goes along until i get to this part that it asks for a password i put the only password i know for the thing which obviously now is the default login password...... really f***ing annoying help plz |

ok armed with this new info and the method my mate used to get his router working with optus I suggest you switch ISP's. :p
Here's how my friend made his router work I think: Started out with just his PC hooked up to the modem, plugged his router in and nothing. After some dicking about and much gnashing of teeth we realised the optus tech guy might actually be right and leaving the modem/router/computer turned off and unplugged for a while might actually work. So he unplugged it all and an hour or something later plugged the modem in and turned it on, then plugged the router in and turned it on and I think all was good. If you're using the modem plugged straight into your PC I suggest opening a command prompt (as administrator if you're using windows fister) and type: ipconfig /release and immediately unplug the network cable from the modem to the PC. Now plug the ethernet cable from the modem into the WAN port of the router and after a bit there should be some action. If not then you might just have to use the method employed by my friend of leaving everything off and disconnected for a period of time. I have no idea why optus would be so picky about it because on telstra I can go from one router to another or just straight into my PC without any issues at all. |

^^nah he's usin the internet (HA HA) fine with it just plugged into his PC. At least I assume that's how he posted the thread and from what I could gather on MSN before he disappeared to try to fix it... that was like 10 minutes ago.
