This is one for the system builders
Hi all I've got a mate of mine who does alot of music editing and crap. He's got a new dell PC which has onboard audio which is fairly average, and he is used to running a Sound Blaster Live. I stuck it in his new PC and works tops - just doesnt allow him to use the front headphone and mic jacks. Now obviously they are going to the motherboard via the FPAUDIO connector. My question is, can you buy a soundcard where you can plug the FPAUDIO connector into so the front audio jacks work through that soundcard? TIA |

Doubt it, maybe look at the higher levl cards that have the external break out box that you can plug into.

I am fairly sure the x-fi's have the usual :.::: HD front panel connectors on them.
It may only be the higher models but I'm sure one of them does. That is the base model and it looks like it does. http://au.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=15855&nav=1 Intel HD Audio Compatible Front Panel Header (2x5pin) |
