Ok I've been trying to do this for entirely too long so its time to seek some E-help
The other day in the floods I lost a dell 1950 server to the rain, it was submerged in an inch of water and is now totally raped I filed my insurance claim and they said no worries, just get us a quote to fix and a quote to replace I can get the replacement quote very easily, cant get a quote to fix ANYWHERE how the hell do I do this? does anyone have a contact at dell who can give me a quote on replacing *every* part what I really need is someone to write, on an official business letter head, a statement to the effect of it is cheaper to replace the entire server than individual parts |

I was gonna say I do have a contact in Dell's Enterprise Solution that may be able to help. I'm surpised that they haven't assigned you one of these guys already, we got assigned one even for a company of our size (SME ~40), but we're dell shop though and have been for quite a number of years ~6 years so.
Also he's based in SYD how awesome is that!?@ (it's sad I know :( but simple things like these makes things so much easier in situation like these ) |

I just spoke to an electrician friend of mine, he said he can take a look and probably certify that the machine is no longer safe to plug into mains power as it is water damaged, something called Fusion
going to check that out, all i want is my bloody server back |

what I really need is someone to write, on an official business letter head, a statement to the effect of it is cheaper to replace the entire server than individual parts dude just ring around. every major pc store does this every day, especially in storm season |

none of them want to touch it because its a rackmount server, its not just a simple case of opening up a tower case and replacing bits
the rackmount parts are far more expensive |
