i don't think you'll find potassium chlorate at your corner store though, probably easier to get ammonium nitrate.

So apparently you can just do this experiment with sugar. The potassium chlorate is an oxidiser, which means that it will burn stuff. A simple smoke bomb can be made from combining sugar with something that will oxidise and the effect is very similar to what happens in the test tube here.

Like nF says, you wont find it, or be allowed to buy it very easily because its a strong oxidizer which means you can make bombs with it.
