so I've just moved house, setting up the AV equipment etc and I've come across a problem
my projector used to sit on the floor inside a coffee table and it was kinda the perfect spot for it, because it beams the image at an upward angle onto the screen

now in the new setup it's not quite roof mounted but its on a shelf which is very high up the wall, near to the ceiling
the problem I have now is obviously the image is being projected onto the roof, I can't for the life of me how to tell the projector to beam it downwards, the only solution thus far is to turn the thing upside down?

projector is a benq pe7700, suggestions other than turning it upside down? (it has buttons on top that would come into contact with the shelf, plus theres no rubber feet for it if its upside down)

I'd guess that other than pointing the projector downwards, your only option is to roof-mount it properly.

Of course, if you point it downwards you're going to have to trade quality off for all of the keystone corrections that will need to be made.

The manual for your projector http://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector_manual_2756.pdf verifies what i've just said (in terms of placement).

When we moved home I picked up a vogels ceiling mount - its excellent - easy to install and mount. Only downside was that it was a little exxy.

Good luck!

yeah funny you should mention that, I think I just bought a ceiling mount
right now I've just moved it way further down the wall and have it propped up at the back, with massive keystone adjust

here I was thinking they'd have some kind of logical way of just manipulating the angle of the projection?

ermmmm.....dude, you know that just about all projectors have a "mirror" setting, so you can use them inverted (ie, ceiling mount) or on a desk.

yep, there it is, page 24 of your manual, under "Setup", then "Mirror"

his problem isnt mirroring - its that the offset for the image (that is, the distance between level with the centre of the lamp and the bottom of the image) is set, and it set to always appear above the top of the projector. (so if it is on a desk, you can see the image, or if it is turned upside down and ceiling mounted, the image is also viewable). What teq's trying to do is put the projector in its normal orientation up high; and the offset is screwing it up for him, so he has to angle it down and put loads of keystone on it.
