Yeah the thunder is directly over my house making everything rattle. If I wasn't surrounded by so many trees I'd be outside with my camera taking pics of the lightning

Its crazy how the rain avoids esk. It is like there is a cloud no-fly zone right through that whole corridor... whether it comes in from the coast or inland, it always goes above/below as a whole or splits into 2 and just goes around the catchment on both sides. So dissapointing, I want 10min showers :(

Went into the cinema and no clouds in sight, come out and tree branches on the roads and power outs leaving traffic lights dead, something that looked like a pile up on the highway heading towards GC, no cars are moving near the Cleveland exit.

There appears to be a UFO in the sky, as I can see bright flashes!

i really really miss days and days of endless rain :-(

anyone old enough to remember the 74 floods??
me and my cuz went swimming at the railway overpass at Zupps near Downey park @ Windsor....couldn't get through the road........dad parked up the street and we hit the water.....then when the water went down a bit we used those round boards for some surfing in Downey.....can't recall what they are called but you use them in the shallows at the beach.....put them down and run up and jump on them and try and stay up......
nothing like rain up this way.....we are just shy of the big frequent falls....all that starts around Mackay.....
i forgot to mention the aweosme regular thunder storms......they were great!!!

I don't know about 74 floods, might have been them I wasn't alive but my parents said the water came right up to our back door.

I grew up in Brisbane in the early eighties at the Gap (before moving to Melbourne) and I still remember the awesome, and frequent, storms that we would get.

Once I moved back to Brisbane about 10 or so years ago, I was, and still am, disappointed at the lack of storms.

Love a good storm with the lightning cracking over the cane fields.... maybe I should write a song about that.

i also lived in Darwin for a couple of years.......talk about awesome thunder storms!!!! that is the capital of them.....but yeah i remember when Bris had some great ones.....in fact i remember it raning for so long that we had mildew starting in the joins in our old weatherborad home....clothes hanging under the house that always smelled damp....funny how we used to complain about it then!!

I miss the QLD storms, Melbourne just has no idea how to brew a good thunder storm.

HAHA! Ho s*** i remember my old man telling me about those 74 floods, and funnily enough he was at the Zupps/Holden at Windsor as well! He lived just up the road and he said the neighbours backyard was underwater as they were right near Kedron Brook.

Oh yeah, and the boards are skim boards arent they?

its storming over bald hills as we speak.

my best storm story... one Friday night in cairns.. 400mm of rain in around 4 hours, ground was totally soaked. on Sunday, Cyclone Rona or Steve smashed into FNQ. the end result... massive damage to large trees that had been standing for centuries (root systems all lose and messed up from the heave rains) and the complete isolation of cairns for around 3 days. airport was closed, all the roads out of cairns were closed, and we had no power for 2 of those days.

oh and yeah Larry was lots of fun too! :P

Was driving home last night about 11, stopped at my house, getting ready to get out of the car. HUGE crash of thunder and lightning, turned around in the car to see a flaming tree two houses down come down, take out all the power lines and lie across the road. Whole street goes dark.

I was like "Screw this, I'm sleeping at my GFs house where there's electricity."

I had a round skimboard thingo when I was really young. Used to take it to the beach and go sliding around on the few cm of water left after a wave had just come in. They were pretty fun :)
