Is there anywhere in or around the Brisbane CBD that does maintenance on your guitar? Mine needs a bit of love and to be re-strung and all that after not using it for a few years and I simply can't be arsed to do it.
Talking with a few mates today got me wanting to get back into it! |

Pretty much any place in Brisbane that sells guitars should have someone that can do a setup for you www.yellowpages.com.au . If it's just a re-string though, just do it yourself. It's piss-simple, there's not a whole lot to be 'arsed' about.

doing a restring probably wont be too hard unless you want to get it checked out to make sure the neck is still good and to do any intonation work.

I always stick with Ellaways for repairs, if it's just a restring, do it yourself.
Billy Hyde can f*** off, they're a bunch of scammers, avoid them at all costs. |

What sort of guitar is it?
Don't waste your money on it if it's a s*** guitar. Most good places will charge the same cost as a new guitar for a service. If it's a good guitar then it's definitely worth it. |

Ellaway's is top notch, can't recommend them enough.
They opened a new store on Compton Rd, Underwood... otherwise there's the original on Gympie Rd, Kedron. Family business ftw, to last this long against the massive stores they must be doing something right :) If you're going to buy a NEW instrument, you can NEVER go past Venue Music ( http://www.venuemusic.com.au/ ), free delivery anywhere in Australia and absolute BULLs*** prices (especially on ESP's). |

It's a Monterey MW-101CEN. It's nothing special, but if it's going to cost more than $100 to just clean it up (as long as there's nothing wrong with it) then I won't bother.

a restring and cleanup would hardly cost that much, i'll get a full setup, stringing, and usually some mods done to any new guitar i buy and that ususally sets me back about 80-100

It's a MontereyEwwww, I got a Monterey acoustic from like 10 years ago, the action is like 1cm high :) I got a broken Epiphone Les Paul Custom sitting around (snapped neck, pity it's not a bolt on)... I'm going to buy a Squire Telecaster for like $200 and pimp it out with the gold humbuckers and hardware, scallop the frets and customize/paint it for fun... now that will be one random pimped out guitar. I'm so bored. |

Cheers for the bmusic site! I'm look at upgrading from my MH-100. I got s***ty equipment considering I've been playing so long :( |

On the bmusic site if you look at the buy and sell section on the forums, sometimes the store owner will put up awesome deals, lots of half price stuff shows up there if you are patient.

What about amp repairs? I have an old Marshall combo amp that died a few years back, needs new tubes at least, probably one or two other things as well..

Amp repairs has to be BJ amplifiers, best in brisbane. Whatever you do, dont take it to a place that does general electrical repairs.
