You really think its a good cheap deal?
Considering a plate costs $10-$15 dollars cost this much labour. It doesn't say if the fans are included in the price, (id doubt it) but seems very expensive to me for power points, tv points etc.... How much do you think you'd normally pay for new wiring in a new house? |

If you're getting it behind your fridge just for your fridge why would you make it a double?

So your getting all new wiring ran from the switchboard as well or are they just replacing those items youve shown? Because the items themselves might not cost alot of money but try figuring out how much cable you would need and the climbing around in your roof, terminating it making sure its safe etc etc etc. Seems like an ok price to me.

It's for a new house, so should be fairly easy to do.

i assumed it was in an existing house. for a new house i would have thought you would have an overall electrical contract. more information.
remember the biggest part of the cost with tradies is actually getting the c***s to turn up. |

You do mean newly built house right? Not one currently being built? A newly built house is not any easier to put in new wiring then an older one in most cases, they just have cleaner ceilings.
That quote looks fair. We normally charge by the hour + materials and GST for a small job like that and depending on how long it takes depends on if it works out cheaper then a quote like that or not, in most cases it'd be cheaper. Quotes like that always tend to cover the sparky in case something unforeseen pops up and it takes longer then expected. You should probably just be thankful you managed to get an electrician at all, we get people trying to get us to go up to Brisy all the time because they can't get anyone local. |

Thats an awesome deal if he actually shows up and does it.
I've been trying to get someone to install my A/C for over a year now and I've had at least 10 guys say they will do it but they don't turn up. |

consider that sparkies are the only ppl who can do this.. then consider the trade shortage around australia then think of the money these guys could get doing a larger job then think your lucky you can even get a sparky come do it

that price is pretty standard all around the industry, i'd pay it... they include supply and install of all parts... a new house would cost about 5-10 k to wire up... depending on size...we're doing this massive f***er, and its shot up to 150k . its not just the parts that need a hook up, they will build the switchboard, etc.
anyway, most sparkies charge 80 dollars an hour. Also Dodgymon, pm me your msn or something, and we'll talk about your aircon, i might be able to fit it in right before summer time. |

i got a few mates who are sparkys and they are sick of hearing that kinda stuff. You have to be qualified to install electrical sockets, screw it up and someone dies, plus so what if the plate only costs $15, you think they are going to drive all the way out to your place, get in the roof/walls or whatever and install it for $20? i think not.

I am a sparky and that price is standard
what you do when you design the power layout is plan for you to add power points in later when you move in. It is realy easy to put power points on the other side of a wall back to back. |

Pretty Cheap prices. Though I did all my own TV points in my house, it was very easy and cheap. Just make sure you get a good quality main splitter Like a Hills. Head to Ideal electrical at Milton for advice.
