I reckon if u wack that logo on cards etc people might have trouble reading the light blue. Maybe darken it a tad.

I'd like more of a deeper electric blue than that poofie pastel shade. And darker grey/black instead of the light grey.

Be bold - make an impact.

What the hell is the thing on the right supposed to be - drops falling into water, or the dashed line of a road?
(Oh right, viewing it large cleared that up a bit).

Doesnt seem to scale too well. Colours scale really badly too, makes it look like a really badly compressed jpeg. Tried deeper/darker colors?

'I' in IT doesn't seem to scale well either.

looks ok... i rekn the 'IT CONSULTING' should be a darker grey as it is hard to read being so faint.

It's not the logo, it's the name that makes it look bad.

Yeah I'd say darken the blue. Imagine how hard it would be to read if you put the logo on a projector.

Think of all the dodgy, unreadable Powerpoint font colours you've seen in the last 5 years and thought to yourself "holy crap how could that go un-noticed?".

How much are you paying for it?

Looks too much like some sort of web 2.0 social networking site and that's where your designer is drawing inspiration from.

i think it looks pretty rad

grey seems fine to me as long as the printing is good quality, blue could be a touch darker but i wouldn't darken it too much.

but i'd have it printed out on a card and actually have a look at it before i committed to anything.

ok, I am going to darken some bits

Its going to be printed on 300gsm from a 200dpi cmyk vector so quality shouldn't be an issue in terms of the colours showing true

IMO, should call yourself "JMR IT Consulting" instead of the full name thing.

It just doesn't say IT Consulting, needs to be darker, bolder and have slightly more relevance to IT other than a random dumb logo.

Yeah details will be on the other side.

Ticman I would like that too, but ATM I am trying to avoid registering an ACN and doing BAS so this is the easiest way at this point.

To be honest I like the first one. But as previously said, on printing you may find the colours blend

that's jmr pissing on it from a great hieght ;p

personally... i don't like the colour gradient in the joshua on version2 ... makes it look like it's fading from age already ;p it will look worse when scaled down imho. go the solid colours imo.

Then I, being a non-IT person, prefer the first one.

Colours shouldn't blend Kat, what you see is what will print

I dont know now :(

I think it's an overall professional, fresh look: the typography, colours and style is great. a great base for your identity for sure.

I think your original colour would look much better in print.. bolder, fresher. i think your darkened version will just look muddy, and is getting to the grey-blue that's way overused in the traditional IT industry.. which isn't you, right? ;)

I'm not sure about the rounded square, it doesn't really do anything for you imo. id try getting rid of it and going from there.. I do like the concentric circles though... I donno. It's growing on me. Maybe those elements could be used in another way. My immediate response to seeing it was "what's with the big grey rounded square"

I always though if you traded as anything to do with your name, including initials, that you don't need to register the name, get an ABN, etc.

I think either way, you still need to do BAS and GST if you go over > $50k/yr?

PS: not an accountant.

Cool design, I think the darker colouring looks schmick. Though I agree with demon about the gradient.

You may want to say IT Consultant. I mean, it's just you right?

Jmr, some words of advice (im a printer). If you're going for the pastell look like the first one (i prefer the first one) I'd go for a 300-350gsm Silk/Matt (coated)or card (uncoated) stock. Depending on the quantity you want, if you want probably 500 or less i'd go to a digital printing company. If you want 500 or more i'd go to a proper printing company with an offset press it could be cheaper.

Also, steer clear of doing it in CMYK you'd be much better off just getting a hold of a PANTONE or "PMS" book and picking two colours (this cant be done on a digital press) wich would be cheaper and will look much more solid and flat whereas those colours done in CMYK will look more patchy and the colour might not be exactly what you're thinking it will. You will also have (possible) registration/fitting problems with doing it in CMYK.

The gradients will be no problem as they can be achieved by using difference screen percentages. If you're having trouble taking it all in, pop around to us at Metro printing, 9 barramul street balimba :D

I love the first one, its simple, balanced and effecive. Its not too light, considering its primary print will be against white. The lighter blue is catchier and because of the block colour, I think it looks more bold/stands out better than the second one with the fade effect on it.

VOTE 1 - FIRST ONE.
