Anyone know a good IIS website analysis / tracking software package?

I've googled my little heart out this morning but there's a LOT of crap out there; one package I looked into appeared good but then I found it was based on an MS Access back end. roffles ensued.

This is for a Government site so I am actually looking to spend a little bit of money to get quality - I've been told to look for packages up to 5-10k.

We need:

- All the bells and whistles for reporting.
- No real bias to IIS log files analysis or an embedded tracker, although we'd like to avoid an extra page DB hit if we can.
- Preferably a database backend in SQL Server or Oracle format.
- The ability to develop custom reports against the back end. This is importanrt as there will be an expectation on our department to continuaolly refine the solution to need.

I know there's some IIS guys on this forum. Do my job for me eh? :p

DeepMetrix LiveStats is also not a bad package.

WebTrends look good but DeepMetrix who looked AWESOME have been bought out by microsoft and their package is being discontinued :(

Any other ideas? I need to get quotes from a few sites...

Damn, I missed that bit.. LiveStats was the best stats package I've used.

Saying you don't have a bias for log analysis or embedded trackers (page tagging) makes it sounds like you have to choose one or the other. The two suggestions Webtrends and Deepmetrix both do log analysis and page tagging.

I'd recommend using something that does both - unless you know there are no intermediary caches or your site is all https. Proxy servers can interfere with the accuracy logs, but the logs are still useful for filling in gaps left by clients that don't support js or whatever the page tag uses.

I haven't used it but Urchin* looks alright.

No, not Adrian, Nathan and I don't recall getting a lift with you to QGL, although if you did, I'm sure I appreciated it.

I thought you were joking about not remembering. I guess it's not a very unique or distinctive nick and I've never really posted here, so I shouldn't expect it to be remembered. We have talked on irc though - at least that's what I like to call that time some guy called I`m_Jim tbk'd me from #quake in '98.
