This thread contains the word love in reference to a male from other males far too many times for any heterosexuality to be plausible.

Thus, anybody above this post who has used the word "love" is gay.

Also, I wanna check it out but sif I'm downloading an entire album - do you have any single tracks linked/mirror'd I can check out without burning all my bandwidth (lolstra) on something that could be s***?

Maybe you should do some downtempo-chilled out style track? Not that there's anything wrong with your current stuff (they are great) but just in case you needed some inspirations for new tracks etc :)

spot on opec! i have actually been slowly working on a mix on and off that is a down tempo style. something a bit cruisier to put on when you dont feel like getting smashed by electro. it should be ready within the next few days.

i thought you mixed using software strex? graduated to cdjs?

Don't you mean you youngins don't know what good music is yet? Don't worry one day you will.

There are only four kinds of music that is any good, punk, new wave, alternative and 60's rock. Everything else is for girls.

so basically strex what you need to do is stop mixing anything vaguely house or electro and mix a bunch of completely different music to please some tard on a forum.

or you could keep mixing good electro which everyone likes.

You're a tard. Don't you understand English when it is written. I gave him 4 genres as an example to mix with bands to choose from and maybe even get an education of the variety of music about other than house and techno.

By the way I am not the only one who likes such music and I wouldn't consider a small sample of people on QGL as the be all and end all of music tastes. In otherwords get a life you ignorant sod and learn there is moreto the world than techno and house and QGL.

Sorry mate but the only "tard" here is you. If you had any musical knowledge whatsoever you would know that virtually none of the bands you mentioned are suitable for mixing because of the way the songs are structured. Electronic music is constructed in such a way as to allow the DJ to blend and match beats in order to make a smooth transition between tracks. You can't "mix" punk or 60's rock. You might be able to remix a track by adding a strong constant beat and then use it to mix into an another track with a similar pitch and beat, but you can't mix the bands you have mentioned. About the best you would be able to do is fade one track down and the next up. Pretty boring. Mixing is about creating a space where two distinct tracks overlap, a third track if you like.

Perhaps you should "get an education" before you talk s*** about which you obviously know nothing.

BTW Your lame-ass list is nothing more than trying to look impressive by listing heaps(?) of bands you like. Awesome. Here are some of the ones you mention, and you tell me if they sound like "girl's music" to you...

""Psychadelic Furs, Go-Betweens, Simple Minds, Orchestral Maneuvres in the Dark, Echo and the Bunnymen, B52's, The Smiths, The Cocteau Twins.""

Wow. So Edgy. Your knowledge of 80s New Wave music is virtually encyclopedic.

I wouldn't consider a small sample of people on QGL as the be all and end all of music tastes. In otherwords get a life you ignorant sod and learn there is moreto the world than techno and house and QGL.

Ironically, I would, however, consider your taste to be at best woefully narrow minded, at worst a slimy pile of mucus.

there is a lot more to electronic dance music/mixing than just techno & house. (& strickly speaking mr'strex's mixs aren't techno from what i have heard... please feel free to correct me if a techno mix has been done that i missed.)

haha. if you could please explain how in the f*** you are supposed to mix a B52's track into an electro set that would be dandy. short of producing a remix which is a totally different thing to mixing... but then again i'm sure you already knew that considering you seem to know f***ING EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Gee your a dumbs***. I wasn't asking him to mix across genres you tool, I was putting to him to make a mix for other genres. Talk about comprehension skills being at all-time low.

Same goes for the incredible-vegetable or should I say the incredible-vegetable-braindead - for someone who proposes to understand music so much why can others produce mixes of the genres and supposedly you can't. Also just because you don't know most of who these bands and the music they play makes your comments mean absolutely nothing to me.

Brian Eno is basically techno you knob as is OMD and Modern English but these two have vocals as well. Songs by the Cocteau Twins are ethereal Irish you dumbtwit (much like Enya) and Monsoon and Sheila Chandra are ethereal Indian ya knob. Magazine, Wire, Pere Ubu, The Residents are very much an alternative version of pink floyd ya dips***. They Might be Giants are about as far from punk as you could get.

Of course you won't mix across genres, I gave him a list of bands he could explore and possibly make several different mixes from ya knobs.

you came into a specific thread about a dj who mixes a specific genre of dance music and proceeded to tell everyone that it's crap. plenty of people in here like plenty of other types and genres of music whether they be electronic or not. if you're gonna post in this thread either l2electro or f*** off and make your own thread kthx.

You really are showing how braindead you are. Where does the title of this thread say House and Techno, for f*** sake. By the way where does Michael Jackson, U2 and some others conform to House and Techno in the mixes strex has done. I think you need a rewiring of the synaptics in your pea-brain.

why even argue with someone who knows everything, taggs. just spin another track.

Do you mean make compilations? I think you may be confused. I would love to hear anyone that could beat mix a set consisting of original punk songs, alternative, grunge, New Romantic or any other genre that doesn't have as a musical element a constant or regulated beat or rhythmic pattern.
I think that would be quite a feat.

Please name some artists who beat mix or blend all punk tunes or all New Wave or any of the other genres you mention. I am busting to hear or these rare men and women of whom you speak.

Where does the title of this thread say House and Techno, for f*** sake.

It's actually electro, but don't let silly little things details get in the way of your logic juggernaut.

Brian Eno is basically techno you knob as is OMD

Electronic? Yes. Techno? Umm no. You do know what techno is, right? Or are you one of those people that refer to all electronic music as "techno"?

Songs by the Cocteau Twins are ethereal Irish you dumbtwit (much like Enya) and Monsoon and Sheila Chandra are ethereal Indian ya knob. Magazine, Wire, Pere Ubu, The Residents are very much an alternative version of pink floyd ya dips***. They Might be Giants are about as far from punk as you could get.

And your point is? Enya is s***house elevator music. The Residents an "alternative" version of Pink Floyd (whatever that means)? If by alternative you mean separate from the mainstream, I think you'll find Pink Floyd's early work and come to think of it much of the rest of their ouevre is about as "alternative" as you can get.

They Might be Giants are about as far from punk as you could get.

And yet your argument is about as far from well structured and to the point as you can get. Who said They Might Be Giants had anything to do with punk? What are you talking about?

Also just because you don't know most of who these bands and the music they play makes your comments mean absolutely nothing to me.

See that's where you're wrong. Again. I do know a lot of the bands you are talking about. In fact all of the following I own or have owned at some stage, many of them on original vinyl:
New Order, Joy Division, Clash, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, Elvis Costello, Ian Drury, The Damned, Stiff Little Fingers, The Ramones, The Saints, The Cure, Talking Heads, B52's, They Might be Giants, velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, The who, The Kinks, The Animals, John Cale, X-Ray Specs, Gang of Four, Nick Cave and the Badseeds, Madness, XTC, The Specials to name a few.
Those plus several thousand other albums, tapes, DVDs, Mp3s etc, covering every genre from Classical to Death Metal. Many of which I will guarantee you have never heard of. And I wouldn't say I an expert on music at all. At least not compared to a lot of people.
I simply make the point that you just can't mix this type of music in the way a DJ would mix it. End of story.

Now what?

Yeah absolutely. But they don't mix entire sets consisting of punk for instance do they? Cos I think Old Fatty was intending the DJ to mix a certain genre ie punk.
Cos he says...

I wasn't asking him to mix across genres you tool, I was putting to him to make a mix for other genres.

I think it's awesome, even for a 43 yr old.

Das Meat/-\xe

PS - no thoughts about a game salute mix StreX ? ie the immortal quotes we all know and love , interspersed with familiar tunes that we all recognise (maybe those four notes from Battlefield, the midi from Duke Nukem 3d, the music file from Q3dm6, some Rainbow Six / Ghost recon / Diablo, and heaps more I just cannot remember just now.

All locked and loaded to a beat that only StreX can source , in a way only StreX can.

not exactly commercially viable , but it could be fun

In the meantime RetroVibe is on repeat here, one of your best IMVHO.
