Hi Guys, Link Just a heads up on the new TPG plan for those interested though you'll want to check if your dslam is capable of it, Downside is it looks like upload gets capped to 128k as well once you go over your quota unless they mean capped to 128k peak / 128k offpeak. It's probably been answered in that thread but it's 42 pages long atm so it'll probably just be easier to call tgp and ask closer to the time they offer the plan. |

Just a heads up on the new TPG plan for those interested, don't waste your time calling until the plan is listed on the TPG website. Also TPG have pathetic off-peak times (good luck using 110gig between 1am and 7am).
I called last week, and apart from their sales department not knowing what the f***, trying to talk to them over their VOIP link is a f***ing joke at best. |

I can almost guarantee the plan will be pulled soon like they have before:
http://whirlpool.net.au/article.cfm/1347 (Cheap plans introduced) http://whirlpool.net.au/article.cfm/1546 (Cheap plans pulled) Plus they do P2P shaping. Still doesn't stop my friend from leeching 100GB+ per month on an 18GB plan :) (good luck using 110gig between 1am and 7am) You're joking right? At 10Mbps (typical speed) you can pull 20GB in a single off-peak window. Meaning you can use up all that 110GB in under a week. last edited by parabol at 12:50:27 25/Jun/07 |

this is great. somewhere for all the leechers to go. right now im sitting in a data centre connected to a 1Gbit link to Telstra's TID backbone and have nothing to download. i have no idea what these people download to clock up hundreds of gigs a month. |

a) TPG users already complain of s***ty speeds, and bad pings.
b) Its designed to pick up all the people leaving Internode. c) I'd be so tempted, but I hate changing ISPs and I'm sure my speeds will go down. I'm considering going back to iiNet though. |

The few people I know on TPG have pings that go up to around 150 in peak time.

Are you guys asking about pings for gaming-related porpoises, or do you use low pings as a measure for performance in other areas?

At 10Mbps (typical speed) you can pull 20GB in a single off-peak window. Meaning you can use up all that 110GB in under a week. Correct! at 10Mbps assuming 10bits per byte ( easier maths, like assuming gravity at 10m/ss ) you'll get 1MB/sec 110000Mb/3600s ( seconds in an hour ) 30.5 hours! |

Why would people leave internode anyway? So the prices have gone up by $10 or so a month, big deal. I'm still happy to pay it considering in the 2 years I've been with internode I've had like 1 day of downtime, and great pings and great speeds all the time. I think my internode plan is $110 a month, so thats $10 a week more than the TPG one, and I'm sure its more than $10 a week better. If people want to cry about paying $10 a week more for good internet than they deserve getting stuck with s***ty speeds and s***ty pings and s***ty service.

Because people demand 100% uptime, super uber fast speeds and big fat quotas for next to nothing.

People on the top plan with Internode had their plans go up $40 a month.
HOME-Extreme-Value $59.95 ADSL2+ Speeds 20 GB Shaped There is no $110 a month plan, and the 60GB plan is new. So you must be on the $89.95 plan which used to be $79.95. last edited by mongie at 16:08:01 25/Jun/07 |

Ah, I probably am, cos I think my quota is 40gb, I pay it quarterly so I'm a little out of touch with exactly how much it costs month to month :P That top plan has only gone up by $20 though not $40, because I used to be on that 80gb plan at my parents house and it was $129 a month (I still have the invoices).
Either way, its still worth it imo, considering the quality of the product you're getting. |

The prices dropped in January, now they have gone up again.
A $10 per month increase for HOME 512Sym Pro, HOME 1500 Power20, HOME High Power20 & HOME Extreme Pro; as well as SOHO 512Sym Pro, SOHO 1500 Power20, SOHO High Power10, SOHO High Power20 & SOHO Extreme Pro. From Change in Price Also they got rid of their premium news about a month earlier. I lost a good $25 value from my plan. Add to this the fact that Simon Hacket is a f***wit, and their call centre times are unbelievable at the moment (don't bother ringing at lunch time, or after work... its not worth it). Since I'm sure you or Infi are going to comment on it, I'll mention that I realise the quote doesn't show that plan going up $40, Its actually a different array of plans that went up, but they still raised 3 plans by $40. (they're the 1.5 and 8mbit TW plans). last edited by mongie at 16:56:25 25/Jun/07 last edited by mongie at 16:58:43 25/Jun/07 |
