Konichiwa muther bitches...
Random thought here but was just wondering if you were given a choice between drowning or being burnt to death, and there was no way out of it, which one would you choose? I think i'd go with getting toasted, the thought of drowning really freaks me out :( |

Any serious diver can control drowning.
It's purely a "discomfort", it's quite easy to drown yourself till blackout. Burning flesh on the other hand is pure pain and major props to hot coal walkers. |

Depends on how intense the Heat/Fire is.
Extremely hot Like falling into Lava, or under the rockets of a Space Shuttle, then Burned. Slowly roasted though, thats a whole different story. If you dont think drowning hurts, they dont use it as punishment/torture for no reason... |

It doesn't hurt?
Hold your breath at your computer, till you pass out then start breathing again... seriously, only takes 2 -3 minutes to try out. It's an EXTREME discomfort, nothing more. |

And depending on the intensity of a Fire, it would be an EXTREME discomfort for a fraction of that time.

The scenario i'm setting here is one where you're being burnt at a temperature high enough for you to die as quickly as possible. For example, being dipped in molten lava vs locking you in a cage and throwing you in the deep blue sea.

Ok to make it fair (lawl) how about getting burnt for 10 seconds then dieing VS drowning/gasping/filling up your lungs with water for 10 seconds then dieing.
I nominate kat to diaf and spidz to diaw, then report back the results here plz. |

Anyone else up for a drownin?
When level 600 water restrictions kick in sometime in the future it wont be free anymore you know. That's like 12 litres of water that could be used to flush some rich a******'s s*** saved up over 2 weeks. Be water wise and fill up your lungs while you can. last edited by Suckah-Free at 22:01:33 21/Jun/07 |

Didn't guys starve yourself to blackout back in grade 8 when the biology teacher explained involuntary muscles?
Seriously, it was a very weird learning experience. No damage done and a strong willpower building exercise. |

The scenario i'm setting here is one where you're being burnt at a temperature high enough for you to die as quickly as possible. For example, being dipped in molten lavaI always thought that close to molten lava it'd be so hot that you'd prolly just catch fire anyway. Like, if you're getting lowered in slowly, surely the air above it has to be hundreds of degrees, so you'll start cooking before you're in there? |

I've heard that almost all the agony of drowning is the anticipation of the death, rather than the drowning itself. Its the freak out and try to get out of the sinking car that sucks, not the actual breathing of water. The idea being that the body will try to breathe water OK after an initial bout of coughing and choking.
I don't know if that's bulls*** though. I do know that being burned really f***ing hurts. I also don't know what happens as you die, what if your consciousness stretches out that final instant of life into an eternity of excruciating pain? f*** that! last edited by Hogfather at 11:51:04 22/Jun/07 |

you suffocate if it's hot enough to burn the air around you
though something like napalm causes that, not being covered in petrol and set alight i don't think. i saw when they did it on jackass though the guy said it was hard to breathe |

As the nerve endings are burnt rather quick and you die of shock before you die of being burnt, I would go with burn.

Whereas fire, your skin is slowly burning you from the outside, whether you're in a marshmallow or NOT. |

Fire needs oxygen to live/burn.
So as someone said, if you're set on fire you'll probably suffocate to death. While gasping for air it's possible to inhale the fire...I think <_< I think it all comes down to how hot the heat source is. That'd determain how long you're exposed to it before you die and maybe how you die. Shock/heat/suffocation. Got hit by a blast of hot air from a cooker once. Burnt most of my arm hair off and I couldn't stop shaking. Kinda weird :\ Didn't hurt though, short burst. Drowning...only looks f***ed up when someone is fighting for air. If you accept death, then I'm sure you eventually run out of air and just black out, drown and die. But some mother f***ers always try and ice skate uphill -_-; Self-preservation T_T |

So as someone said, if you're set on fire you'll probably suffocate to death. It takes what, four f***ing minutes to pass out from 100% oxygen deprivation? I hope I die faster than that if I'm ever burning to death! |
