A boy asks his granny "Have you seen my pills, they were labelled LSD?"
Granny: "F*ck the pills, have you seen the dragons in the kitchen?" |

I don't get it?
Is that meant to be a joke, because obviously the person that wrote it has little or no knowledge and/or respect for tryptamine type family of psychoactive drugs. Boo! Bring a thread with some sort of discussion point. EDIT: Shouldn't be such a negative nancy, so I'll add my "must do list" of things on LSD. -Scooby Doo Coaster at Movie World (inspired by the "do not ride under the influence of drugs sign out of the front"), best suggestion. -Giant drop/Tower of Terror/The claw/Wipeout... and especially the mine cart ride -Sky dive -White water rafting on a custom made log raft -Centenary towers, 3rd level headfirst diving -Great Barrier Reef -Daintree rainforest -"Intensity" at the coast -Any laser force and/or Zone 3 There's a few more, but a couple of things people must do before they cark it. last edited by CHUB at 00:25:42 21/Jun/07 |

Could you imagine scuba diving when stoned? You'd be so paranoid you'd keep jumping at every little thing thinking it was a shark...

Could you imagine scuba diving when stoned? You'd be so paranoid you'd keep jumping at every little thing thinking it was a shark...I don't think so personally. Paranoia from psychoactive drugs tends to come from civilizations boundaries put on society. You would find the majority of paranoia comes from "man made" objects (eg: police, law, parents, teachers, discipline and general human negativity ect). Nature is nothing but acceptance, you should try it sometime. Nothing like swimming among the reefs while tripping... nothing can beat it and I stand by that claim. |

It wouldnt be nausea that would get a scuba trippa, it would be the possibility of massive disorientation.
Well, it tends to come from the brain biochemical changes that can occure in some individuals and can result in schizophrenia. I guess that sort of paranoia is man made too. The sufferen man makes up noises in his head and all that ;P |

i think i would be more worried about ascent rates.. when you wouldnt care what you were doing... + depth limits with vertigo would help f*** you up
to say mixing drugs with scuba diving is good... well thats just retarded |

I think CHUB is talking about diving in really shallow water guys. No need to worry about the bends and surely you'd have to be Steve Irwin unlucky to run into any problems.
and especially the mine cart rideThe mine cart ride is no longer :( |

i'm pretty sure throwing up into a regulator is going to be dangerous
does scuba gear normally have a back up one though? |

I feel real secure in the fact that Chub is giving secure advice on drugs and diving. Maybe he should start his own diving advice business. He could call it Chub Security.

Keep the regulator in, vomit into the regulator, in case you breath in after vomiting. Take the regulator out give it a wash, purge/clear it again. Put it back in again and off you go. At least that's how I remember it from when I was diving... a long long time ago.

Hey Chub, you should definitely do the skydiving while under the influence thing first.

Had a mate scuba dive and he started to lose consciousness he thought the fish were having trouble breathing so he gave his regulator to the fish. Luckily one of the other divers with him realised what was going on and jammed the regulator back in his mouth and revived him.

giving your reg to a fish for them to 'breathe' is actually quite a common occurrence with divers. Once you hit 35-40m depth, a typical person endures nitrogen narcosis, and become kind of like intoxicated or drugged. It's referred to as getting 'narced', and a lot of recreational divers go to 40m just to get narced. You feel particularly relaxed and happy, and you often do stupid, stupid things when narced. Obviously it can be quite dangerous (given all the equipment you wear and offer to the local wildlife keeps you alive).
basically you don't need drugs to do scuba, just go past 35m and enjoy the ride. |
