New York Times

For every 100 gold coins he gathers, Li makes 10 yuan, or about $1.25, earning an effective wage of 30 cents an hour, more or less. The boss, in turn, receives $3 or more when he sells those same coins to an online retailer, who will sell them to the final customer (an American or European player) for as much as $20.

But it is an interesting read.

Couldn't be bothered reading the entire story, but I saw something like this on SBS the other night. Doesn't "Li" also get free accommodation and gets fed?

Can't really ask for much more from a communist country.

Its actually worth a read.

He talks about how at one point they were forming raids for paying customer's to go on.

yes i could never understand farmers solo grinding.. when when we were in a top guild we would take ppl through MC or other lesser instances and make up to 5000 gold for the run which would go to the guild bank for pots and shizzle in naxx etc

i could never understand y the dedicated farmers sitting in rooms didnt guild up to do similar things

f***in noobs

Because they could run 10 bots all farming in the same zone, different areas, and be making the same as a raid, with out relying on others?

yeah but my point is as a guild we would make more money then 10 bots farming all day..

ie on a dragon day when world bosses were spawning.. we would make over 2000g in 1 hour..

on our money making raid day we would make up to 20k gold in about 4 hours of raiding

also theres no ppl like me going around camping your bots for hours on end while i grinded faction

Speaking of factions, my 54 BE rogue is now exalted with Org, UC, TB and trolls. Hard deciding what mount I should ride.

surely this "trend" could apply for most jobs?

some old mate works at the bank for $20/hr. his bosses get phat bonus'. the company makes a profit of a few billion each year?

starbucks another example?

moral... move up the food chain and dont be a bottom feeder.
