As you know, I got a Teac DVD Player for christmas.

I just went to the local video store and told the girl who works there the problems that I've had with my DVD Player.

When I got on the subject of the Sound being REALLY f***ING QUIET (I usually watch television on 20 Volume, when I watch a DVD I have to crank it to about 70 Volume for the same effect)... She replied "Oh yeah, It's like that with all of them... It's because the DVD's are encoded for Digital Surround Sound, so if your not running through a Hi-Fi System, it will be REALLY Quiet"

IS THAT f***ING TRUE!?! I thought it was my ghey DVD Player. I'm just running it through a 51cm TV... no special stuff... I dont exactly have the cash to afford a hi-fi system... I would have thought that the DVD Would be the same volume of the TV... Obviously not.

Is there any way of fixing this? I've turned the "3d sound" option off when Im watching a movie but it doesnt really help. I've also tried f***ing around with the hardware settings before i load the DVD (Due to my limited knowledge of Sound Knowledge, I didnt really know what to turn on / off)

is there ANY OTHER way of fixing this? When I get my new DVD Player on friday, will it act the same as this one?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

buy a cheap amp from the paper and hook it in between your dgvd player and your tv.. should help boost the sound signal before it hitsa the tv..

if that doesn't work.. pour water into tht tv.. it wont fix your problems bnut it will make a good light (n fire) show!

Ummm.... she's wrong - our Sony works fine... with our Sony tv :) The voices are quieter but overall volume should be same as video.

Walk in there and say :" Your a Lying Slut!"

Because although its encoded in digital,( if it even is) it will only come out as digital if you have the equipment to do it.

If you ODNT have flashy amps and s***, it should be NORMAL like VCR

she is a lying whpore

My DVD player doesnt seem to have that problem. I would check the sound options for the DVD player.

Teac = cheap s***. sell it an buy a DVD drive and decoder card like the Hollywood plus. My brother has one and it dosent need and amp to run a pair of 8 ohm speakers a a decent volume and it even better on the TV.

TEAC != good quality equipment

or, to put it another way,

TEAC is worthles pieces of s***. Never, ever touch them. Don't even go withing a meter of them, their evilness and worthlesness will rub off on you, and destroy your good equipment you have at home.

Yes I can. From experience. I got a Teac `hi-fi' for Graduation a few years ago. Less then two months later, both tapes players were snafu (after about 3hrs combined use), the record player is, of cource, useless to me. After having the tape players fixed under warranty - took quite a few weeks - the CD Player packed it in. Had that fixed, and the primary tape player gave up the ghost again. Got that fixed. When it cam home again, three light bulbs blew in my room, one after the other, all brand new. then my VCR crapped out, and so did my Mothers. Then, just two days out of warranty, the CD player crapped itself again, and the second tape player hinge broke, and a few weeks later, the primary tape players play head literally snapped off. Now this POS is used only as a radio.

Phar, just fondle it dood... it likes to be touched around the flap

but anyways... On many dvd's you will find that there will be options to change between 5.1 surround, stereo surround, stereo and the such..... try that out... laso try jabbing the controla bit sometimes that helps

Draffa - I'm talking about the DVD players, not the stereos... the stereos are as you say completely s***house.

when using the computer DVD's I use power DVD and turn the optoin to "stereo" that way it's nice and loud. If I desire surround I simply hook the thing up to our RCA surround unit, old but does the job.

For normal watching though I just use stereo, anything else is too quiet.

(that was a reply to the guy who said his comp dvd's too quiet)

AnaRoT: that's the trouble. Teac DVD players might be the best in the world, but they're still Teac's. Personally, i'd go Pioneer, then Sony, then LG, then panasonic (do they make DVD players?) in that order.

my teacs sound is really bodged, the loud things are loud but the quiet things area REALLY quiet, but i got a cool hifi system and a couple of kickass speakers that fell of the back of a truck, so i just pump the sound out through that, my volume for the tv has been on 0 for months
