Just Axel Rose on his own does not the gunners make. Velvet Revolver has more right to call itself G'N'R than Axel does (despite that whole 'axel owning the trademark' thing), simply because it's made up by a large chunk of the original gunners...

Pitchfork: Were you a part of the show where Eagles of Death Metal opened for Guns N' Roses and Axl Rose called them "Pigeons of s*** Metal"? What did you think of that?

JH (QOTSA): I wasn't at that show. I thought, "God, such a job well done." And even earlier than I thought he would. It was the best thing that could happen. f*** yeah, dude, that was rad. That was so hot. Because Eagles of Death Metal, as a courtesy to Guns N' Roses, were making their show a little sexier, and it was like one of two things was going to happen: either [frontman] Jesse [Hughes] was going to be Axl's guru, or [Axl] was going to s*** himself and throw him off the tour at some point. That seemed obvious. He didn't even see the band. It was just a total mental break. It's so par for his course, and the fact of the matter is, Sebastian Bach and Axl Rose-- I was like, "That was awesome, congratulations!" I wouldn't have been there in the first place, as in to say, I was in full support of Eagles going there, but I wouldn't have been there.

It's odd. When I first heard about the tour I was like f*** yeah gunners. But I've heard so much bunk about Axl and his band of the moment on their so called tours and they're not even supporting a new album.

I've heard demos of a whole bunch of new stuff and some of it's definitely good to listen to, but s***, every thing i read about the guy these days just comes off as total wanker. As much as I love Guns n Roses past albums, I can't imagine this show being anything like the tours that made them famous. Bottom line is, I'd probably go see him if tickets were reasonably priced - Unfortunately there's a legion of bogans out there that will pay whatever they price it at so I imagine it will be quite high and I'm really doubtful the performance would be worth the cost of admission.

uh huh what

axl rose's drug-addled voice and a backing band of randoms is not G'n'R

G'n'R is dead as far as i'm concerned. Axl is just a f***wit and his voice is well and truly gone. And i agree that the name GNR still being around is pretty shoddy considering the lack of original members. Velvet Revolver have the better stage show, music, and reputation and would be where i'd be spending my dollars.

Appetite for destruction is still the best Debut Album from a band I have ever heard. It would be very hard to top that effort.
