Thinking of heading out tomorrow and buying this game and a PS2. Just wondering which is better, part 1 or 2?

2 ftw it has the trogdor theme song plus better 2 player ability. What more could you want.

Do you have a 360 rev? Guitar Hero 2 comes out in 360 in a couple of weeks, it has 10 more songs than the ps2 one out of the box, plus song packs that will be made available over Live. Rumour is that the first song pack is going to be made up of songs from Guitar Hero 1, so best of both worlds there.

If you can beleive it, they actually did improve the controls in number 2, much easier to play the faster solos than in one and more fun IMO. I probably prefered the track list in 1, but 2 is the better game. Improved multiplayer and practise modes are also a big plus.

GL finding Guitar Hero 1...
I'd say GH1 has a better track list, but GH2 has much better play mechanics and modes. Overall I'd recommend GH2, since it still has a lot of great songs, the controls are better and you'll actually be able to find it. |

If your going to go the PS2 game route, I'd go GH1 and then buy a copy of GH2 sans guitar if you can still find a copy of the first game (I've seen a few floating around) if you only want the one controller and are going to end up getting both. Who knows when or if they will re release the first one without a controller like the did the second.

Why not just buy a guitar?

you can do that, but it's cheaper buying it the way I suggested if you only need the 1 guitar :)

Ok, I've been looking around and I'm gonna go with the PS2 combo. The Xbox 360 version looks damn cool but I'm not gonna fork out $500-$600 on a console only to play one game so tomorrow morning I'll head out to garbo and see if I can get 1 and 2 plus the console.
Woot! |

1 has a better tracklist in my opinon, 2 has better multiplayer options, you could wait for the 360 version like I am, the rumour is they'll be releasing new songs to download over live. Though this is a far more expensive option if you need to go out and buy the console as well.
They've released GH1 (just the game, no guitar) and it should be pretty easy to find now. yeah, what was said above :P last edited by WetWired at 11:03:03 17/Mar/07 |

Ah, for some reason I thought you already had a 360 rev, dunno why I thought that.
Check out EB maybe and get pre-owned copies for cheaper? I think they have pre-owned ps2's as well for about $150. |

JB was the cheapest I've seen for GH2 - $64.. Not sure if it's still on special or not however.. They had the Red Octane Wireless Guitar (ie. not a 3rd party knock-off controller) there for $64 as well, so potentially cheaper than the bundled version.

Went and bought everything this morning. Got Guitar Hero 2 with guitar in a pack and bought number 1 separate. Bought the new slim line PS2 from EB, no way I was gonna buy a second hand one. Gonna go back again and get a 2nd wireless guitar as well.
f*** this game is heaps of fun, been playing it all morning. Gonna be an awesome party game I think. 8-) |

How much did all that set you back rev? I'm thinking of getting a slim ps2 and a game or two (I might or might not be getting DDR).

$185 for the PS2, $150 for part 2 and $45 for part 1. What place sells the DDR game? I've got two dance mats that I could use.
