Hi, i'm looking for some remote desktop software, preferably something that i can set up on my home pc, and then run off a USB drive. that will let me basically go to any computer and plug in my usb drive, punch in my IP, then away we go.
i've been looking at Radmin 3.0, and i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it, or other remote desktop software who could help me out thanks guys |

If you're running XP Pro, you should be using Remote Desktop - there's a client on pretty much every OS that'll work and you'll get the best performance possible.
If not, check out TightVNC - its a branch of regular VNC with some decent optimisations. |

your best bet is a clientless remote control tool. I would be using TightVNC like trog said, along with its inbuild httpd, so you can connect to your pc from any pc with a java enabled web browser.
You could also take vnc executable with you on a thumb drive, its only about 170k |

thanx scooter. your sarcasm is appriciated.
but then again, perhaps i should have given more info. i want to be able to access my pc without having to have any admin rights, etc on the client pc. so, for example, if i want to log in from work, where they have novell login bastardising my admin priveledges, i want something i can run off usb without having to install it. thanx for the info trog and crusher |

erik, grab mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll and you'll be able to run em off a usb drive on even a 2000 box. pull the files from windows/system32 or wherever it is. this is what i do. i live on remote desktop half my day, cos my workplace is so damn big, it'd take me seriously 7 or 8 minutes to walk from the far end to my desk.

i've been using logmein( www.logmein.com ) as well to remote support my folk's when they are having troubles with their pc's at the shop (they live 500kms away). it's handy cause i don't have to renew ip address's, setup port forwarding etc. just install the client on the remote pc and can remote in from anywhere using a web browser. also handy in that they have several pc's so logmein has a list of pc's that are online that i can remote into.
