Topic: Mi Goreng recipe idea's??

I find myself going through a fair few Mi Goreng's a week and the standard recipe needs a bit of a shake up.

I haven't done anything different besides the usual added egg (omlette or poached while the noodles are cooking) and/or adding frozen peas.

From the last Mi Goreng thread I know 95% of QGL eat them and I'm sure people have some good information to add.

Thanks in advance.

I'm still astounded at the nutritional content of mi goreng. I can't bring myself to eat them because of this.

I'd hope that nobody would go through "a fair few of them" every week!

Satay :(

I went through a stage of trying all the flavours.

Curry Mi Goreng literally made me throw up :(

Nothing is better then the original... except some different package called like Super Mi Fried Chicken or something,

Even if ur not fat u shouldn't be eating that crap. Just cos you're not fat doesn't mean you're healthy.

1 x Satay Mi Goreng
1 x Original Mi Goreng

Cook like normal, mix together.

no mi goreng means noodles in indonesian
just to get technical, mi = fried and goreng = noodles

For once I am going to have to agree with nF.

I wouldn't be asking nutrition tips here :-p. I am not saying i know much about it anyway but mi goreng noodles do taste pretty good. At 50 cents a packet u cannot go wrong.

As far as the nutritonal value goes i have not actually checked it out. But i imagine adding other things like egg/vegetables etc would bolster the nutritional value of your meal. Try adding chicken or something?

Pretty sure goreng means fried.

eg. Mi Goreng (fried noodles), Nasi goreng (fried rice), Nasi Puti (steamed rice)

But its a trademark/brand name so it really doesn't have to mean anything.

other way around..
mi or mee = noodles ...
goreng = fried/cooked
nasi = rice

lived in jakarta for 6 years.. i so miss real indonesian food.. rendang, lumpia, proper mi goreng (not this cheap packet stuff - they're good tho :P)

leher, siku, pingul, kaki, baha, pantut, pipi, gigi. That's all the Indonesian words I know, plus or minus spelling.

$8 for a box of Mi Goreng noodles is a pretty sweet deal for students. Despite the terrible nutritional value, it's still better than nothing. And anybody who has been a student making it on their own away from home knows that some weeks it's either noodles or nothing.
