I have read this article and I too found it interesting.

Keep in mind that the report was published by a number of prominent game creators, companies whose best interest lies in games entering the mainstream. I'm not questioning any of the methods used in the surveying, but I reckon the report's written to prove a point, rather than a point being naturally suggested by the results. For example, the page titled "What Australians Think" contains only positive quotes -- I find it hard to believe that, given the survey size, nobody felt like taking a potshot at WoW, and so on.

I liked the bit about the average age of gamers will soon match the average age of non-gamers.

There is no indication whatsoever that the government agrees with or is listening to the gamer community.

Which is a shame, because this is the last year this decade that they might have listened to us.

If only Burning Crusade got an R18+ then the government would know about gamers. The 'high level of... computer literacy' that Australian gamers have wouldn't help them out in that case.
