geekboys has done a good article explaining in depth the half-life netcode. Apprantly it adds an extra 183ms of lag by default, no matter what internet connection you are using. Check it out here |

its not impossible to play q3 on dialup!!! u cn still play q3 effectively with a ping of 100-200... its not the nest but its still playable. |

omg interpolation adds 100ms to your lag, lot of load of s*** interpolation only estimates player positions between client refreshes it makes it look like you got 0 lag @#Q$@#$ HOW DOES IT ADD 100ms ??? |

I certainly agree with the bit about default graphics, sounds and models but with accuracy. As hast said, i don't really get why they claim 100ms delay on the server - it's not like it takes 100ms to calculate the response or something. |
