hello hello
recently i purchased some non copyright protected dvds and decided to back some of them up they came on dvd9 discs so im using dvd shrink to squeeze them onto 4.5gb discs by reducing the video quality all works well.. rip on hard drive... burn on to new disc.. all no worries.. plays in all dvd players.. except the sounds is not working!?!?! its really odd bnecause everything else is fine... and the sound DOES WORK if i play it on my computer using nero showtime.. but for some reason.. there is no sound with any other application (powerdvd, wmp) or even in a standalone player with the TV.... ive checked it over and over.. i definitely include the sound tracks when ripping.. i was thinking it must be a codec thing.. but its all AC3 codec by default right? any suggestions would be muchly appriciated ps. subtitles arnt sufficiant :P |

before you go any further:
1. are your pc speakers connected to power? 2. are they plugged into your computer? 3. are they switched on? |

Have you tried changing the audio tracks while the dvd is playing?

Stupid question but do the original discs have sound when played on the players that yours don't work on?
i was thinking it must be a codec thing.. but its all AC3 codec by default right? no I think dvdshrink will just put whatever's on the original onto yours so if the original is only mpeg audio it won't convert it to ac3 as far as I'm aware. Are you doing a full backup or are you doing a re-author and getting rid of the menus? Perhaps if it's a re-author and no menus there's something in one of the menus that sets the audio flag or something. |
