DreamWorks has confirmed a 10-part miniseries focusing on the Pacific Theater from the creators, (Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman), of Band of Brothers is in development as of August 2006. The Untitled World War II Pacific Theater Project is due out (according to IMDB.com), in 2009, (most likley due to change), with a deal currently being finalized for HBO to partner in the miniseries, which is expected to require more than $100 million.

I only found half the band of brothers episodes interesting. The other half were boring.

Worth watching the whole thing tho, all in all.

Yeah pretty much... the first few (2 - 3) are pretty awesome.

i found the entire series to be very interesting and loved all of them.

but yes, the first 2 episodes were exceptional.

looking forward to the new series. the only problem is that they can't have all our favourite characters from the first in this one, for obvious reasons :(

As much as i've enjoyed most of the high profile WW2 series a few things I'd like to see

For a start

Aussie troops
A mini series on the Kokoda trail maybe? Not meaning to say as our nation has been involved in anything that involved that includes the Commonwealth since day 1?

Let alone some of the other crap we've been involved in over the years
however please, no fake accents and no obligitory drongo characters.

Its Spiers you savages. But yes, he's a legend. So is Shifty Powers. And Winters. And basically most of the dudes.

Band of Brothers was the first World War 2 book I ever read - in fact it was practically the first non-fiction book I ever read and it totally changed how and what I read. It was basically solely responsible for getting me interested in World War 2.

As a miniseries it exceeds even HBOs usual standards of excellence - great cast, and a great conversion to film. It's one of the only DVDs I've ever watched the bonus material on; it was really cool seeing all the training they had to go through.

I did a D-Day tour when I was in France (the day after D-Day anniversary) and it was pretty amazing stuff. The mob I did it with (Battlebus, if you're ever in France) also had a whole Band of Brothers tour, but due to time constraints I couldn't do it. Next time I go back I'm definitely going to consider it.

There are also the-whole-way-across-Europe tours that follow (more or less) in Easy Company's footsteps that I was really interested in doing - some of the scenery is amazing. One of the blokes I travelled a bit with (Barra, if anyone oldschool remembers him) also went to Berchtesgaden to see the Eagle's Nest, which I wish I'd done. That'll teach me to only take 2.5 months off and want to go to the World Cup!

I thought the entire series was f***ing awesome. Bastogne was the best - the one through the eyes of Lipton.

From a film making point of view, it was an absolute epic. If you have the DVD's, do yourself a favour and get through all the special features.

A couple years back I was really hoping they would make a pacific theatre series, although there is still some time to wait untill it hits the TV machine I hold high hopes in my giddy happy land :D.

His role is as a pretty hopeless officer, suits him down to a tee.

He sorta looks like the real Sobel also (well a little bit)

Except nobody really gives a flying f*** about kokoda.
If you asked half the world what it was they probably wouldn't even know.
It would have to be exceptionally well made for it to go anywhere and realistically, I don't think half any of the battles would have been even remotely as epic or a 'numbers' tradgedy... reinforcing that nobody gives a f***.

Maybe sad, but more than likely true, I doubt alot of Australians even rembmer/know what it is
