actually, those are the opening words of the prayer for journey which is played before takeoff on all royal brunei airline flights. i beleive they mean "god is great"

Actually no, the opening prayer is usually "Bismillah El Rahman El Raheem" meaning "In the name of god, the most me mercifull the most benificial" and it's usually heard in most middle eastern airlines as well.

When i last flew overseas i flew with royal brunei airlines. Before every take off, the planes tv system would play a prayer to allah with similar words mentioned in this thread.

I found it very interesting :). So not all prayers you hear are bad !

i dont think any prayers you hear are bad. allah akbar is just what the mussies say when they think theyre carrying out gods will. or when another american soldier gets shot, or when theyre busy killing each other in iraq, or when that first beer they have after a long day at work tastes like the best beer ever.
