The popular modification Point of Existence is making its way to Battlefield 2 when it is officially released on Sunday. Trying a new style of releasing, the team have released a torrent of the files in a password-protected zip file (unfortunately that site smashed by overloaded at the moment, but there's a mirror if it here). If you want to nab the client in advance, you can also download it locally. Check out the official site for the password on Sunday morning (approx 5am).

what the hell's the matter with that torrent?? 30K/S download! I've had to close it and switch to Ausgamers to get decent speeds.

i see there are 64 player servers up now. awesome.

It is pretty cool. When a level first loads it's a bit chuggy, then picks up fine. It's much faster than vanilla bf2, much faster. Lots of new vehicles, and alternate weapons on vehicles, or vehicles where the driver isn't armed. The coolest map is one full of forrest with no vehicles at all, just charging from flag to flag overrunning the enemy or manning the pillbox at a flag. It really is awesome fun.

It just needs more people playing it. None of my bf2 mates have installed it yet, and that along with no ranked server points means i've only been doing about 2 hours a night, then have to switch back to BF2 for a bit of actual team play and communication with mates.

I feel it is better than the two paid for addons i stupidly bought, though in some ways not quite as polished. There's certainly a lot more to it than both of them.

When i connected last night it listed 2 servers as i had the 'ranked server' box ticked, one of them was aussie, though i didn't try them out.

would be good if they could dodgy it up some how so that you still got ranked server points, especially with the shortage of ammo :-)
