You're talking those big thick ones that usually has the long bar push handles? That doesn't sound very far fetched.

no, i'm talking about a normal door in an entrance to a house. i believe they are just thicker than a standard door, i'm googling atm.

Make the next one idiot safe too. LOL bah next time make an intelligent comment rather than wasting everyone's time LOL!!! But on topic, I guess these doors would have to meet a certain standard to get the proper approval to be used as "fire doors" and would therefore cost about this much, as well as probably having to be checked (and maybe installed) by someone with some qualifications... |

Check the building's fire plan to see what class of fire proof door it was. An "A" class door has to be able to withstand an hour of exposure to an 800 degree flame with the "cool" side of the door only heating up x amount. I can't recall the specifics. Anyway, even a lesser door won't be cheap, and yes you're an idiot.

we priced just a normal front door for our house and it was about $400 or so, possibly more. So some fire one would probably cost a heap more.

I am the chairman of the body corporate for the block i live in, and have been doing the quotes for fire upgrades this year.
A proper fire rated entrance door is about $700 + install + metal brace + painting. So $800 installed and painted from the body corporate is about right. A solid core 35mm door is about $300 + install + painting. Check which door it actually has. A proper fire rated door has to have a metal stamped code number on the door frame for annual certification. If it doesnt have that, then its a 35mm solid core door and $800 is too high Dave |

Ohh Dave you sexy hunk of chairman of the body corporate.
Dave Dave Dave! - Love Sally P.S. I love your name Dave ------------------------------------- I work as a drafter (woo uni part time job that pays well) so I get to specify such doors at various times. I agree with Dave (check the door etc.. price too high). You should try get somebody who is experinced to double check it if you can. Things like this shouldn't be f***ed around with. |

Hope the event of cracking the door was worth $800 of memories. Did you just decide to kick the door in your drunken state?
