the First round ticket applications are closing on 31st july for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Seriously this will be an awesome tournament set in the islands of the Caribbean and lasts just over a month... I will hopefully get tickets to the Super 8 stage and go for the two weeks that stage runs for!

And for those soccer fans still not over the World cup, if for the mere fact that it is cricket and it is being played in the caribbean still does not get you pumped, there should be at least as much diving and fixing going on to keep you interested!! ;)

Oh ... and then the rugby world cup in France in september 07, but those tickets are a little too expensive!

I wonder if they'll prepare the old style/traditional hostile decks (in which case bye bye Sri Lanka) or more standard batting friendly ones. (Without foxtel I haven't seen much cricket from the West Indies in far too long.)

all i got was that india rolled them in 3 days in the last test they played, and as you said it would be interesting to see what sort of pitches they prepare.

More then half the stadiums will be new, so in turn hopefully the turf will be reasonable, as for the vamped up grounds, they look nice and green in the designs! :)

That depends on your definition of reasonable! As a bowler I like the hostile decks and would rather see batsmen having to fight for runs than going out there and pounding the worlds best bowlers like they do on most ODI decks now (as opposed to test decks which are prepared differently). Having said that the West Indies attack is barely a shadow of its former self so I doubt they'll be making the kind of decks now that they did in the glory days.

As a spectator... as i am crap at cricket, unless you include backyard and indoor (and by indoor, i mean in the house) in that case I wreck shop (get over yourself plok, I pwned you and your bro!)... i would like to see the runs flow, of course unless the bowlers all come up to G.McGrath's standards (ooo ahhh glen mcgrath, oo-ah glen mcgrath!) and bowl line and length consistently then we will have a game on our hands bitches!
