I can't lie - you caught me out...I DO like to talk about current events and I do like to know what is happening in the world (major world events somehow end up effecting ppl in other places of the world one way or another), however when it comes down to the nitty gritty of the happenings of some random ppl stuck in a house together, I really don't care all that much. Time after time I see and hear parents putting their children in front of the TV while they do stuff, instead of looking after the children or having some else do it. So their kids are watching TV and learning who knows what and having no-one there to discuss it as they watch it.
