Just watched an Ep on SBS, was wondering if any of the local manga 'heads' think its any good or could recommend something else that is good that is around?

samurai champloo is great

awesome production, great story and doesnt try too hard or headf***. Its made by the same guy who did Cowboy Bebop so if you havent seen that you should check it out.

i believe its soundtrack has provided the music for a couple of s1 productions too

I'm going to say I'm a big fan of Samurai Champloo, as much as that could tarnish its good name. Watching episodes here and there on SBS will tarnish some of the great characterisation and a bit of the story, but bar a few multi-parters each episode could well stand on its own, much like Bebop.

Fantastic series.

Watching anime dubs have always been horrible. I prefer the subs, try to get your hands on the subed anime. You will enjoy it much more.
