I was reading OCAU and they linked to Pandora similar to AudioScrobbler with two important differences.

  1. Its picks are based on the "Music Genome Project" which I assume is some form of break down of songs that allows them to match different songs and their musical elements accurately.

  2. Best of all... It actually lets you listen to the songs in their entirety.

Only problem is to register, you have to be a US resident. It checks based on ZipCode. (At this point I'd like to mention this old TV show)

It seems fairly accurate to me, I put in Weezer - Perfect Situation, and it played me a song that sounded exactly like Weezer. I was impressed. Now I'm listening to a "Powderfinger Selection". The second non-powderfinger song it played me was a bit annoying so I told it "I don't like this" and the next 3 songs have all been excellent.

A muso friend of mine who I linked to the site explained to me... "...like life on mars by david bowie, which has whats called a circle of fifth chord progression.....and flat out all the songs they are playing either have that or the singer or vocal melody is like bowie"

Looks awesome.

I've been using this for a couple of months, it's pretty sweet.

I've found bands that I haven't heard in ages, and i've also found some new music thanks to this website.
