Microsoft have announced that the Xbox 360 is kicking along well here in Australia:

The report released today estimated 30,421 Xbox 360s had been sold in Australia during the four days between launch on Thursday, March 23 through to Sunday, March 26.

This is the highest recorded launch sales figure for consoles in Australia; against the Nintendo GameCube (9,190 in May 2002), original Xbox (6,672 in March 2002) and Sony PlayStation 2 (3,366 in November 2000). It also betters sales for the best selling handheld, Sony's PSP (27,055 in September 2005).
The game sales estimate is around 2.6 games per console sold.

Its a great console coupled with a vga cable and widescreen tv/lcd/projector makes the experience all that much better only game ive noticed slow downs in is oblivion , but theres still lots of bugs in that game example.

Go to the SE section of the Talos district of the Imperial city, find a house owned by a gentlemen named Dorian ("Dorians House").
Break into his house, find him, when he tells you to leave kill him.
Loot his body, click on the gold he's carrying and keep hitting "A" like you normally would, over and over, it will keep giving you gold. The number of gold pieces left will freeze when it gets to "8 gold pieces" and it won't go any lower.
It only works once so make sure you get what you want before you leave. If you back out his body inventory screen you won't be able to do it again.

Note: You cannot loot the gold by accepting the whole bag of assets. You have to select each item individually, by pressing "A". Do the gold last. Do not accept all the gold at once.
Press "A" like you are taking one piece at a time, and remember it will only work ONCE.

ive had 2 lockups while playing it, i think game code is still buggy with the 360 hasent locked up in any other demo or game, MCE 2005 + extender rocks streams hdtv perfectly off a mce 2005 box with hdtv tuner, only gripe is that it wont read .wmv off burnt media or external hard drive, but this Device looks promising , now i gota get a etching kit from dick smith. :D

in all top console worth every cent. :)

I didn't realise how few consoles were actually sold in Australia - no wonder companies don't care about Australia when a huge launch is 30 000 consoles.

why the hell would you release a console game when its still buggy? f***en retards.

yes i know they release updates online, but not every person who gets a 360 will also hook it up online.

The only thing Microsoft releases on time is a press-release.

Sydney, 29 March 2006 - Xbox 360 posted record week-one console sales in Australia, according to analyst group GfK.

I wonder who GfK is and if they are on MS payroll. Also what do they rate sales as. Is that units dispatched to retail outlets or units actually sold. So cynical of MS

GFK - they are a reputable sales monitoring agency. To the best of my knowledge, they are independent and many sites rely on their data.

f***.

Had the 360 for 3 days so far.

Bought it with Oblivion and Burnout: Revenge.

During the intro scene to Oblivion (the Bethesda Softworks title screen, and also the opening cutscene), there is a lot of audio skipping etc. The game, however, still seemed playable.

Now, about every hour or so, Oblivion keeps freezing saying that the disc cannot be read. Also, when you watch the trailer movie for the game, the video and sound are completely f***ed (it's basically unwatchable due to all the interlaced lines, chopping sound, and other random s***). I thought it might be the game, so I returned it and got a new one.

It's still doing the same thing. I just tried to watch a DVD on it a moment ago, and again, the video and sound were completely f***ed up and choppy.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Furthermore, what's the warranty return process like for 360's? Will I be without my system for months? What about my savegames?

Jesus f***ing hell, I shoulda known better than to buy a new console right after launch day.

my xbox 360 has locked up once, but i had s*** sitting on it and it had been running 24 hours plus, i dont think the heat was getting out properly so it was my own stupid fault.

other then that no problems, ive cained the s*** out of it during g.r.a.w multiplayer and ive done some massive streches in oblivion and never had a problem.

as far as im concerned thats a reliable product. the odd few people that do get one and break well thats bound to happen, and its the reason you can exchange faulty stuff.

First of all Phar, what's your xbox live nick?

And secondly mine was doing that too (video chop), and then my brother changed something and it fixed it... When he is awake next I'll ask him what he did.

As for the lockups maybe it is overheating, make sure it is getting good ventilation and stuff.

I haven't come across a 20m ethernet cable to run through my house to hook up to my xbox yet hehe.

Also, it's not really a lockup (well, once it was), the other times I have heard the drive over-spin, and then it flashed an error saying that the disc has become unreadable, and that I should restart my system.

Whats your msn dude? I'll let you know my live nick once I get it all up and running :)

I don't use msn, just use the pm function. That disc unreadable thing has happened with both copies yeh? You haven't switched the xbox from horizontal to vertical or vice-versa while the xbox has been running have you?

Yeah haven't moved it from the vertical position since I bought it, and yeah it's happened with both copies.

Also, I just found out that the setting to change is to from Pal 50 to Pal 60 to eliminate the choppy video s***. I did it and then just played the DVD in the drive to see if it helped, and it's still f***ed :(

Sigh, there goes about 20 hours of Oblivion gameplay down the drain while this thing gets swapped via warranty.

Anyone actually buy one of the memory card things? If I need to swap the machine over, I'd gladly pay for the use of it to store my savegames :)

Is it only happening in oblivion? Clear the HD cache, there is a rare bug with it.
Hold the A button and put in oblivion DVD. Let go of A when the bethesda logo shows up. See how it runs now.

Pharcyde, thats because the game can only run properly in 60HZ mode, switch to PAL-60 in the xbox 360 settings menu.

*note the 60HZ logo on the games cover.
