Well, yeah...

and Considering that microsoft own a nice chunk of apple, they legally are allowed to. Oh, Microsoft and Apple share ideas and technology as well. According to an article I read, which Ill try to find, bill is trying to make the two OSes evolve to look like 1 eventually. Vista is the first step.

How much of another company do you have to own before you can legally claim that your product is more innovative than the other, even though it isn't? If I buy 5 shares of canon can I proclaim that I invented the desktop metaphor? Is there a real difference between 5 shares and anything less than a majority stock?

Oh, Microsoft and Apple share ideas and technology as well.

Sharing is a pretty big term, it gives strong mental images of a big happy corporate world. A world were Bill Gates and Steve Jobs go down to the park and hold hands while they discuss how they can enrich the experience of their users.

They do some collaborative research with each other and they exchange the rights to use each others protected work. However, using your simple analogy that they 'share' technology with each other, if I share my (patented) ideas with you, does that give you the right to claim that they are your ideas?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Mac lover, but I am required to use a lot of different operating systems (including OSX and windows) and it is more than obvious that MS is playing catch up to product that has a lot more potential than anything they have on the market.

who really cares?

Microsoft > Apple. The proof is in the figures.

OS Market Share
WindowsXP - 72%
Windows 2000 - 13.4%
Windows 98 - 2.5%
Windows NT - 0.3%
Windows 2003 - 1.7%
Linux - 3.3%
MacOS - 3.5%

Obviously the figures arent perfect, but they are reputable and obvious enough to use.

just because more people own something doesn't make it better

it just means its owned by more people

correlation != causation and you need castration

Tk, I haven't noticed a system hit at all. Also, if you want to get rid of it, its a simple uninstall program option.
