My mate is having trouble with his PC as it's just randomly turning on. Does anyone know why this would be happening and what can be done to fix it?
os - win xp pro cpu - amd duron 900mhz overclocked to 1ghz mobo - Aopen MK77MII ram - 512 ddr hd - 20gb x2 If you need more info I'l ask and post it up.. |

Check the bios turn off wake up events...ie wake on lan / magic packet / usb wake up...

Could be a mobo short... or a dodgy power supply... or a bad power board (odd voltages running through your case can do some pretty wacky stuff). I'd suggest you make sure the power switch is still mechanically sound, but if his machine doesn't randomly turn off as well than that's an unlikely cause.

I remember there were reports of Chaintech mobos turning on by themselves but I see ya mate doesn't have one.
