Topic: Scariest movie this year - High Tension

I was just scanning the movie trailers at Apple and realised that High Tension (trailer) will be released in the US in June. Not sure if they will be dubbing it or not (the original is French) but just wanted to point you all at it and say by damn it is the scariest movie I've seen in the last few years.

Even people that don't normally watch foreign films, particularly subtittled ones, really like it.

Check it out if you can. I got the uncensored DVD after hearing rave reviews about it, but the stuff that is included in the uncensored version doesn't really add to the movie, so doesn't matter if you end up only able to watch the US/Australian R rated version, it's still awesome.

As far as gore and what not goes, there's an initial bout of gorey violence, but after that it's just a very very very tense movie.

A must see in my book.

IMDB Link. Do yourself a favour and avoid anything to do with the twists.

Fake edit: It will be dubbed in English, and a minute shorter than the original French film. That doesn't really matter, since there isn't that much dialog anyway.

I saw it at the cinema, it made me jump a couple of times, i liked the suicide to open it, but i had issues with the way it played with the flow of time, and the fact that if it wasn't for the clever time editing it would've been a boring arse movie. i.e. if watched chronologically it'd be pretty boring.

High Tension s***s all over it. Different sort of scary, not 'argh!' as something jumps out at you.. but the dread of knowing somethings approaching and worrying about what may happen.

edit: That's probably a bit harsh, but the guys at work that loved the grudge then watched haute tension and changed their minds :)

It looks good, but with most new age scary movies the cgi and awesome special effects can wreck the film. But it does look scary, hopefully I'll be scared, I thought I'd get scared in the grudge, but no, s***. Seems that way with a lot of new age scary movies, I get hyped up thinking sweet, a scary movie but am dissapointed in the end.

how bout the doubters post the scariest movie they've seen in recent times, so we know what it's up against. Then once it hits our shores you can look back over this thread and see if you still think the same.

Only thing remotely scary is maybe the Ring or Ring 2 which I havent seen yet. Event Horizon was up their but still not really that bad. Grudge was ok. I thought the best scary movie ive seen for a while was the one where the old guy played games with all his victims, that was very cool - not really scary just thrilling.

What's so scary about this movie? The trailer looks like any standard teen horror flick.
