The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But the island holds many secrets, including the intense howls of the mysterious creatures stalking the jungle, which fill them all with fear. Fortunately, thanks to the calm leadership of quick-thinking Jack and level-headed Kate, they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn.

So anyway, an airliner crashes on some remote tropical island and there are about 45 survivors and they all have to work together if they stand any chance of survival. Personally, I think this show is damn cool. Pretty much in the first ep you find out the island hold's some sort of mystery, but the early eps don't seem to be giving away too much at all. I'm up to episode six and still the survivors are non-the wise about the island. I've been reading thru a few fan sites and stuff and it's cool reading peoples theories about what is happening and so on and even though nothing has been explained about the island it's interesting to see the background of the characters in flashback scenes thru-out the eps. It's been done well enough so you sorta keep your mind off some of the weird things that have been happening.
So all up I reckon this will turn out to be a cool series even though not much is happening at the moment but seeing as each episode roughly goes for one day and there have only been six eps so far, I can wait for a bit longer for them to uncover something that'll get the ball rolling for why they are there and what happened to the last people who were stranded on the island.

Here are a couple of links to some sites regarding the show...

Unofficial Lost tv site - this is one of the better fan sites with lots of info and message board
Official Lost site - extremely ghey and looks terrible

Also, that tv show about the plane crashes is awesome. I've only seen the last two eps but they have both been good.

Hobbits!?

Yeah I've been watching this show as well. I found the way they portrayed the 'Mysterious Big Thing' to be a little annoying at first since you don't see what it is but as the show has progressed, revealing that the island has more mystry to it, I've been enjoying trying to work out what the mystry is rather than getting pissed that they just won't tell us already.

Top quality show, good to see as it was starting to get a little thin out there in good tv land.

Ep 1&2 leaked on to the net as a pilot back in june. I was pretty pissed off when i found out it was just a pilot and the show may not even be picked up, but thankfully it was.

It's pretty impressive, and i've watched every episode so far.. including watching the aired versions of the pilot to make sure they weren't any different. They weren't.

It's a very interesting series and i'm enjoying it a lot. If you are downloading it, it is worth waiting for the HR.HDTV rips.

The show is promoted as being by the creators of Alias, don't worry though, it doesn't suck like that show.

As of episode 5 I still highly recommend this.

Eds, yes i know the hdtv was out yesterday, but i'm waiting for the high res hdtv, which usually appears a day later.

Someone has mentioned to me that it has been picked up for a further 9 episodes, though i've not seen anything confirming that. Here's hoping it keeps being good.

I've heard word that there's also a full HDTV version that gets posted to the hdtv related newsgroups. It's supposedly about 5.x gig per episode :-)

yeah i thought so too, till i saw the HR hdtvs.

Do yourself a favour and check one of them out. Double the size but four times the lurv'n :)

HDTV supports a resolution of up to 1920x1080 and is later encoded at a resolution of 640x352 with a size of 350MB. The quality is good, but it's basically taking a high-res source and making it roughly the same res as most other TV caps. There are now rips being released labeled as "HR-HDTV" that are from the same source resolution but are encoded at 960x528 (1.5 times larger) instead and include 6.1 AC3 and weigh in at 700MB.

They're twice as large, but the quality is absolutely outstanding.
Also, they play fine on a modded xbox using a reasonably recent release of XBMC.

I've got the first two eps in the 700meg format and they do look a little different. Especially when the camera is panning around the smaller files jerk while the 700meg ones are smooth. But apart from that I can live with the smaller files.

Haven't heard anything yet, but based on past experience with Australian TV networks and 'new top notch' US shows that started in the September/October US ratings period, I'd expect it to start airing here March 2006.

Yeah, its a pretty cool show. Like Rev said, not a lot has actually happened yet, but enough has happened to get you hooked and intrigued and wanting to know whats going to come next.

The black guy is the dude who plays Hills in Oz

Also the guy who played Link in Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions. Its also got that asian guy who crops up in everything (Angel, 24 and Andromeda spring to mind, but I'm sure hes been in other stuff too). Hes pretty good, I've always liked his stuff, but I dont think I've ever seen him play a character that is so "hardcore" before. Ep 6 was good, finally finding out what the story was behind the asian couple.

Yeah, the new BSG is pretty awesome. Season 4 of Enterprise has just started, as well as season 5 of Andromeda. Theres also a new improv show with Drew Carrey, kinda like Whose Line is it Anyway, called Drew Carrey's Green Screen show. Its not bad, but so far, not as funny as whose line.

Typical hollywood bulls***, get something that has been done before, changed the setting, add a funny black guy and BAM! new show.

And yes I am passing judgement, why shouldnt i? It happens is the time with this s***, so why should the audience start to have faith that this will be "something different"

You're a tool.

Point I'm getting at, read up on a little movie history. Maybe check a classic "The Defiant Ones". Yes, this is a hollywood movie but it WAS orginal at the time. This show is the same sort of s***.

The movie follows John "Joker" Jackson (Tony Curtis) and Noah Cullen (Sidney Poitier), two convicts, one white and one black, on a southern chain gang as they try to escape the law following a bus accident that frees them.

I honestly see a huge connection, a group (2 or more) that don't get along but need to work together to get through and reach their goal/s. Only got into their current situation because of an accident, i will give that benefit of the doubt though.

Difference, bigger group and not running from the law (that i know of).

Astroboy the plane crash is only being used as a naritive tool to get a bunch of people on the island. It is honestly not the focus at all. There is WAY WAY more to this show than the screencaps let on. All that has happened in the show so far have been constant little murmers of mystery on the island and more than 50% of each episode of the show is spent off the island flashing back and forward and linking to characters as you first met them on the island. The show is as much about the journey as it is about their present problems.

Grab the first episode and stop being a f*****. Its nothing like you have assumed it to be.

I'll try do this without spoiling...

i actually think it's one of those metaphor shows.. where we will never see the scary creature in the bushes cause it's a metaphor for hope.

And you think it's a normal island, but what's with all the strange things... and why whenever the main character chases the 'suit man' why does he end up finding something significant that was missing or for which they were looking?

Typical hollywood recap my arse. Saying so is no different to saying that every story told in the last 100 years is just a reworking of shakespear. Sure, you may be able to boil it down to that, but your being extremely anal.

If someone can name a show that has been done like this before be my guest. I haven't seen anything like this before, sure, there is Gilligans Island but that was a bunch of people that set sail that day for a three hour tour, a three hour tour damn-it!!

Anyway, what is the deal with Locke? He's obviously been in a wheel chair for some time and now he can walk. This island is hiding something and I'm gonna find out what it is.

Lost is an awesome show, I too stumbled upon the pilot episode, and loved it. Likt Natslovr, I was hoping it was going to be picked up and it was. All the characters are cool, and there's so many little bits and pieces that you want to know, and they slowly get revealed to you over time, some in the flash back scenes for each character, and some in other ways. It's building itself up to have some huge ending that reveals alot of stuff, so I hope it isn't a letdown.

Oh, and it sounds like Astroboy enjoys a bit of manpole

He was leading Jack to his coffin plus the cave that had the water. Even Locke told him he had to stay out and find something and that was it. Locke knows something, maybe not fully about the island but he saw something when he encountered that beasty thing and wasn't killed.

Prolly from the luggage part in the plane.

Trying to think back who wasn't on the beach and who wasn't at the cave. Someone is playing funny buggers and it better be a main character, not one of the random noobs that has never been mentioned before. Maybe it's someone already on the island? Hmm, only time will tell.

Oh yeah. Episode 8 is out and it's damn impressive too!

Finally get to see Sawyers background, who I personally think is one of the best characters on the show. He's such a prick to everyone and then suddenly he's helping out, but only if it will help himself. Also nice to see a bit of torture going on too.

I think the worst thing about this show is the eps aren't long enough. They really need to make them like an 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. But anyway, this thing has still got me hooked bigtime and now we have to wait another week for the next ep. The waiting game, it's the hardest game of all.

Yep today's was good. Hopefully next week it's about the iraqii, his story certainly looks interesting.

I'm not convinced the attack was done by Sawyer either, maybe it was the no-longer-cripple guy, doesn't he have the largest motive to not leave the island?

But yeah, probably some other people on the island. I recon the iraqii will find them next week as we learn more about him.

Yep, I doubt it was Sawyer who belted him over the head. Possibly Locke, he was in a wheelchair before they were on the island so if he leaves he'll prolly end up back in one. Might even be the Korean chick behind it? She never wanted to go back and live with her husband and knows that her father is some crime boss dude.

Yeah I was thinking Locke as well but then I thought he'd probably have too much class for that. I reckon it will be one of the other characters that we haven't learnt much about yet.

It was the ghost of the dead FBI agent.

He want's them all to die for killing him so he's reaching out from the grave to stop them from having any chance of getting off the island.

+ theres the cavein. Think about it, cave in traps the doctor (best chance of accelerating deaths on island, take away even rudimentaru medical assistance) and it catches a junkie as well (which all cops hate deep down anyway). I still think that he was hoping to get the chic because of the love triangle but settled for the junkie in the end.

WooT!! Episode 9 is out and reading for watching.

Wasn't too bad although I preferred last weeks story over this one. At least we finally get to see another person living on the island but her story didn't really do anything for me. Didn't explain enough and she's a little crazy. There's one thing I hate and it's listening to crazy people rant on about nothing. It's painful to watch and gets boring real quick. But she did leave Siad with an important message, watch your back from those around you. I guess the people with her turned on each other when they realized no one was coming to save them.

Also something else that disturbed me. At the end of this ep it had an add saying Lost wont be on for another two weeks. WTF??? It's hard enough waiting one week god damn-it!!

The crazy woman killed her child as well. That was pretty insane. Siad's story was interesting to see and I found the revelation that the island might make people go insane and kill each other a pretty cool possibility.

I really enjoyed the episode, little bit of hilarity with the golf course as well.

Is it the island that makes people kill one another, or just being without hope?

The fact that there is a lot more power on the island, and that 'they' have it at the black rock i found to be very interesting.

Crazy woman.. we she was just plain crazy, but brought about some good ideas.. There appears to be a viable power source on the island...

The blackrock people sound strange, what was with the map drawings the crazy chick did? Some weird looking mountains in those maps...

She also gives some good insight into the people who were trapped there before, the science team, what the f*** were they looking for? or did they let the animals loose on the island? (lol farcry mutants lololol).. As seen in the after show ad, will the aussie chick kill her baby too? (thinking up crazy s*** to get sick and kill the kiddie?)

Definitely one of the more exciting series of show i have seen, takes a good initial idea and just screws it around to make it interesting and funky...

yeah they are. Not just 'sniper rifles' have scopes you know. Pretty well most sport rifles and the like have them. Borders at school all had them (and liked reading magazines about them hehe) and the rifle range I went to had them on most every gun.

PLUS in america you are even more likely to find that sort of thing what with their gun laws being much more liberal than ours.

Damn awesome episode, except for the preggo chick screaming like a girl twice at the beginning. It starting to get very interesting now, having found out that dude living with them wasn't one of the passengers on the plane. By-golly, did they have to end it like that? Have to wait another week ffs.

So who do you reckon he is? Is he Alex? Or is he one of 'them'. I found Sayid's dramatic return pretty interesting too, obviously he knows something. Last we saw of him he was standing in the jungle surrounded by the voices of people whispering, and now he comes running into camp, frantic, injured, and babbling about how they're not alone.

Things are definately getting interesting :)

great episode. I didn't think he covered the Iraqii very well. It gave us 3 secs of him running in the Bush then he appears. If he's still haunted by voices it should've re-capped on that.

Strex, let us know what role your sister is playing, or at least in who's world she'll appear.

The funny thing about lost is i know people that don't even download TV shows off the internet that are talking about it.

Normally i have to drill good shows in to people, with this I have people coming to me and asking me about it. I just hope that who-ever is picking it up doesn't miss the boat with this by waiting until February.

What a cool ep. Loved the scene where they find Charley hanging up in the air in that tree. Looked like something from a horror movie or something. And that metal thingy Locke finds in the ground should make it interesting in the next ep. Could be some type of entrance to tunnels. Strex's sister looked damn hot in it as well.

it was an ok ep (a part from kate in undies, which was good++), i would have preferred it to focus on someone elese's background but it's nice to get another story from her, even if it still leaves a lot unexplained.

I would have thought that with the audience lost has at the moment that there's not really a need to introduce a cliff hanger in the last 30 seconds... oh well, bring on s1e13.

If they want to sue me for downloading TV shows they can. They are only hurting themselves. Every year I spend thousands of dollars buying TV shows as soon as they come out on DVD, quite often pre-ordered (atm have the following pre-ordered: Charmed S1, Shield S3, Wonderfalls S1 which all become available in the next 8 weeks or so).

I don't watch free to air, and wouldn't even if i didn't have the net, since the advertising makes me sick.

And to talk some more about wonderfalls, if i hadn't downloaded the TV show from the net i'd never have pre-ordered the DVD, since the only ever aired the first 4 episodes in the US, then canned the show, but had done enough eps to release the DVD. TV producers should see internet tv 'piracy' as a promotion tool, and should be seeding the torrents themselves!

Sort of Lost related, but I just watched ep3 of the new season of Alias, and theres a scene near the start with a birthday party, and in the background on the radio you can hear Driveshaft singing "You all everybody". Cool little crossover I thought :)

Because those 'type of people' don't fly on aeroplanes???

I never said that at all. I was merely pointing out that instead of picking a random group of people, they've given these broad ethnic groupings representation in the show, but in nice small numbers so they're not a threat.

Try elsewhere, troll.

Maybe you should email the producers or something and get them to make it more unfair to minorities???

To be honest i don't think some of the characters could exist unless the cultural stereotypes existed... but hey you've got your own ideas about that

So if it was all white people, you'd probably be whinging that its racist and not a realistic portrayal, and probably throw in some regurgitated propaganda about how arrogant americans are and how they think they're the centre of the world.

But then they do have a cross section of lots of different types of people, and you whinge about it being too PC and too afraid to step on anyones toes?

How about you just shutup.

I thought 13 was good. Another characters' story and the monster re-appeared.

At least the token characters are real characters with stories, and it's not like the producers neglect them, or put there story completely in a non-token world

The iraqii was set with an iraq love story in iraqii. The Korean's were in Korea.

If it really is all about tokenism rather than story, where's the token fag?

Yeah, ep 13 was awesome I reckon. Locke is still kicking some serious ass plus you get to see a bit of incest going on with Boon and Shannon going for it. If Shannon was my step sister I'd be bangin' her too! At least this episode didn't end with a crumby cliffhanger like usual. And that creature is starting to resemble the predator, going by that cool scene where Boon and Shannon are casually walking thru the jungle and then you see a s***load of leaves fly up into the air.

Bring on episode 14 damn-it!!

I reckon its not a creature, I reckon its mechanical. It sounded mechanical when it was moving and stuff, and even the roar didn't sound like a natural roar, it sounded like some kind of mechanical synthesised roar.

Havn't heard much about Sauer(sp!?!? :p) cept for when you see Boon at the cop shop and see him being dragged in. In most of the of episode giving a look at people's past, it never really gave the full story either. Once it has introduced everyone it can always go back and go further into everyone again.

Was a kickass cliffhanger ending, and boon had a couple of amusing 1 liners.

The polar bear is interesting, because it was in the kids comic book, then you see the bird die when he is looking at it in the book.

We got a three week wait till the next episode, and then there's only 4 episodes left (according to tvtome), but i guess that might be all that they've done so far, hence the 3 week break. The next four episodes focus on:

15 - Charlie
16 - Sawer
17 - Jin
18 - Hurley

That's all the description of the unaired eps reveals at the moment.

In regards to the kid and the polar bear.. i'm wondering if the plane crashed cause he didn't want to go with his father, and the unseen monster exists because he was scared after the crash. Loche walks cause the kid didn't know he was a cripple.

Very cool ep. Locke is still kicking some serious ass which is awesome, however that token black guy is acting like a damn fool. He needs to lighten the f*** up. I preffered ep 13 to this but it'll be cool to find out what happened to Clare. She better not come back and act all crazy-like and scream every few minutes.

well that'd suck

I fail to see how it can't be profitable, apparently it is only behinb Desperate Housewives for ratings, so that means they can charge a bucketload for advertising and they pretty much hired a cheap cast, no one would be making a killing (ala friends $1mill plus an ep) maybe that Matthew Fox would cost them *some* coin, but all the rest are vurtual unkowns

I guess it would have cost a fair bit to make though

A lot of people i know have issues with episode 3, it will be interesting to see how its handled by normal viewers with a weekly viewing gap when it airs here. People that watch up to episode 3 think the show's over rated. If they watched 1,2 break, 3,4+ they love it. If they just watch 123 then they don't, and need to be convinced to stick with it. Once they see 4 they are fine.

Something about the first two episodes packing a nice punch, but ep 3 being all happy-go-lucky Swiss Family Robinson type stuff. If you make it through to episode 4 then you will probably continue to like it.

I herd something interesting. There was a moment in the first ep I mist until last night. If you listen closely in one of the sceens one of the random survivors says there was something very familiar about the noises the creature in the bush made and that it reminded her of home. Then some one asked her where she was from but I can’t remember what she replied with.

Could be a clue :D

Haven't read teh whole thread and I haven't looked for any info on the series, so if what I say sounds stupid because it's already been explained then bite me :)

I'm guessing they've stumbled into some sort of experiment, probably military weapons research. The unseen monster is actually a weapon that is being tested that generates powerful, confined windstorms. Like a "tornado gun" or something.

It'd explain trees being knocked down, weird noise (tornados supposedly make all sorts of weird growling sounds - at least if you believe the movie Twister ;) the occasional shadows could be debris picked up and held airborn by the wind, the guy getting thrown into a tree and ripped up is the same (abrasions caused by airborn debris), it'd explain why there are no obvious footprints (at least so far) and no one has actually seen "it", not to mention the turbulence that actually downed the plane in the first place.

I reckon it's artificial and not just some naturally occuring freak winds because of the labrador. They spent so much time focusing on it with no explanation that it leads me to think that it belongs on the island rather than being some blind crash victims guidedog.

*shrugs* I dunno, I figured if the captain had been grabbed by something there'd have been blood falling even while he was thrashing about. As it was there was no blood until he was out of the plane - possibly when he's been slammed into something by the swirling wind?

Also, like natslovr said, you dont really get fully hooked into it until you've seen a few episodes. After I saw the pilot I was intrigued, and interested enough to want to see the next one, but then after I saw a few more I was well and truly hooked.

Yeah, Charlie was a knob-jockey for doing that. Also, highlight of the show was when Charlie was having a flashback thingy and that chick he was dating said her dad was away in Slough buying a paper company. Made me ROFL and LOL.

Nothing beats getting the series of Hermitech, to find his hdd has gone whack, and the eps are just episodes of pron somehow joined together to form the same filesize.

You are all wrong.

The best part of the episode was the comedy broken copier routine with the time lapse jumps and the funny music. (and of course the eventual vomiting)

New ep is out... Looks ok !!!

Kate and Sawyer divulge dark secrets to each other while tracking a renegade boar that Sawyer swears is purposely harassing him. Meanwhile, Hurley and Sayid worry that Charlie is losing it after his brush with death, and a shocking, prior connection between Sawyer and Jack is revealed. Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "The X-File") guest stars.

I now see what they mean about each fill-in story giving you more hints about the Island. I recon everyone will have crossed paths in their past stories some how.

It seemed to be a bit of a fill-in up episode, making sure to flash to all the characters we haven't seen for a while, doing their things..

Er, its a public bitorrent tracker, anyone that connects can see the ip address of everybody else downloading (and therefor sharing) the file.

Ive mainly heard of US downloaders getting c&d emails for shows like enterprise (paramount), but mainly movies and music.

As an Australian you may be off the radar for a while.

Extremely cool ep.

Can't fault it at all and it's probably one of the better eps of the whole season. Hanging for the ep that focus' on Hurley. He better be a gaming nerd or I'll be very upset.

But yeah, that ep was f***ing cool. Really had a nice flow to it and when Hurley was listening to his walkman, I was thinging, WTF, those batteries should be dead by now and then the music died. Twas a great moment.

I think whoever said, a few pages back, that the kid is making s*** happen is on the money. I didn't notice it till it was brought up again in this episode, but notice when he plays backgammon he nearly ALWAYS gets exactly the dice roll he needs?

When Jin was leaving the cave, and she told him in English that she was going to leave him at the airport, I thought he was going to turn around and start speaking English too cos it looked like he understood her. But then he didn't, so I'm still cursed with having to read subtitles :(

Also, with Hurley on tv, did some hunting around and found this thread on a forum about Lost. Apparently each week that guy translates all the unsubtitled things the Koreans say. He couldn't read what was on TV, but there was a newscaster or something talking on the tv at the same time and he translated that as "Over the weekend, Lottery winner..."

Edit: This thread on the same forum has some possible translations of the words. They're wildly different though, so who knows if they're right. One person says the words mention money and fraud, another person says it just says "Lucky Winner" and "California". Apparently hes on tv twice though, in different shots during that scene, so maybe theres two sets of words? Dunno.

I think some people are translating the words and some people are translating the announcer. Further down the original link they said the words are something like "fortunate winner" "california" and some other stuff (the written part on the tv).

I've been away and just watched it. Awesome episode. Glad to see that it was Hurley on the TV, not just my imagination.

Noticed quite a few new extras in the background at the fight. Wonder if they'll be more prominent. Another Asian and a guy with a baseball glove.

Yeah, I noticed Hurley's episode is called "Numbers" too, which adds some more weight to the whole lottery winning idea.

Edit: Something I just thought of though, if hes such a big winner, or done something so big that hes even on the news in Korea, shouldn't some of the other people on the island have recognised him by now?

the hdtv.repack-lol rip goes out of synch, misses frames and looks like it's stopping in places, but continues on.

I noticed voice out of synch about 10 minutes in.. then probably every 5-10 minutes it goes blank like they cut an advert, but the audio continues and it continues on a second later, so it wasn't really an advert break.

slightly out of synch audio bothers the begeezus out of me, but the episode was too captivating for me to bother attempting to synch it in xbmc, so overall even with the occasional blackouts it isn't that bad.

Sucks how they do that. Simpsons is worse though, one week there's an ep and then 3 weeks later a new one.

If you haven't grabbed the lastest Lost ep don't bother. It's just a boring re-cap of everything that's already been shown. The only good bit was right at the end when they show a small preview of the next ep. In saying that, the next one looks very cool indeed.

There was a lot of interesting things in the recap, but next weeks preview has been released by itself, so if you aren't up for a recap grab that. Things i found interesting:

. The fact that they didn't mention anything about the island residents seeing their deceased love-ones roaming around, and that following them lead to significant findings.

. A reminder that Locke is an accountant

. A reminder about the voices and that there are still 'them' people on the island, not just Ethan and the French woman.

. That the boys comic book was in spanish.

The final looks good, shame it's broken over 2 weeks.

I'm betting Locke is invulnerable.

Cause he has no feeling in his legs but can still use them, and he apparently gets shot (the advert makes it look like Saeid) and if they weren't prepared to kill off Charlie, the won't be prepared to kill off Loche.

New lost is out people. It goes for 2 hours and looks like a ripper !!!

After another funeral, tempers rise as the survivors suspicions of each other grow, and an unlikely survivor vows revenge. The events that landed Sayid on Flight 815 play out as he engages Locke in a psychological game of cat and mouse to uncover the truth about the mishap that claimed Boone. Jack goes after Locke believing he had caused Boone's death. Meanwhile, Kate struggles to keep Jack from acting on his rage. Shannon also makes plans for her brother's alleged killer. Claire and Charlie attempt to calm her new baby and Sawyer proves to be the best thing for Claire's very unhappy baby. Sayid's past involves the CIA and a suicide bomber.

Tell you what, Lost is becoming extremely s*** these days. The last 3 eps have been god-damn boring and each episode goes absolutely nowhere. It's going the way Carnivale did, trying to stretch things out over 10 eps that could easily be told in a few.

I haven't been that interested in Lost lately. It just feels so drawn out with about 5-10 minutes of island storyline, 30-35 minutes of flashbacks and 10 minutes of pauseing in speech for emphasis. In a way, not knowing the back story of a character can make them more interesting.

wish i'd known about the sound-sync problems before watching it. damnit that episode was spoiled by 10+ second delay on audio.

There's a fix for the sound sync problems.

Good episode overall. Quite a bit happened. Will have to re-watch with synched-audio.

Media Player Classic and its Audio Delay options for the win :)

Good ep though, but yeah, I kinda agree with what some people have been saying about it being too drawn out. It built to a frantic pace around the time all the stuff with Ethan was happening, and then it slacked off and hasn't seemed to quite ever pick back up. Interesting stuff still happens, but its far too spaced out to have as much impact. Even Boon dying was stretched out into an entire episode, and I think as a result it lost a lot of the impact it could have had. For example, that episode where Ethan hangs Charlie and you think hes dead, that had way more impact on me, even though he didn't die, than Boon's actual death.

Latest episode was good cos a fair bit of stuff happened, hopefully the finale is just amazing and blows us all away cos then I could forgive some of the slowness.

I hope its not some lame explanation involving strange supernatural stuff and/or aliens, cos that'd really ruin the show for me. I mean, theres obviously something weird about the island, and weird about the kid, but I'm just hoping it stays pretty grounded like it is now and doesn't get all X-Files "I want to believe" kind of thing.

By the looks of it, its a really old ship. Back then the water level could have been higher than it is now. The shore could have been where the ship is now.

The annoying thing is it seems at times that the show is being mysterious and misleading just for the sake of being mysterious and misleading. Like, honestly, why the f*** would they be referring to that old hulk of a ship as "the black rock"? The only reason I can see is so that it suprises us when we see what it really is, because really, who the f*** would look at that and go "Ok, we will call this place the black rock".

I dont think its hell/purgatory though, I think its a real place, cos what about the numbers? The first person who originally got the numbers heard them being broadcast from the island, and I dont know how hell works, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't sit in the middle of the ocean broadcasting radio signals.

Interesting ending... I had an inkling they were just setting it up for more seasons when i read that abbrams wants to run 5 seasons like alias... Nice little jink with the 'boy' reference, that did actually surprise me but then i did wonder how someone like him would just 'leave' the island without anything major happening... Sawyer is prolly dead, michael too maybe since he can't swim as for the hatch?? i don't have a clue...

I've just checked my hrhdtv rip of ep1 and that's real. how cool. It's at 5:03-5:05, right after the guy gets sucked in to the engine.

Hurly thinks the numbers give him bad luck, but they seem to give him good luck. They tried very hard to make him miss his flight. He just looks at it the wrong way.

After watching that trailer for Season 2, I have to ask how you know its going to be awesome, considering it shows absolutely nothing except some fast blurry images of people running, and lots of words flashing up on the screen?

I just hope season 2 is less smoke and mirrors, and more stuff actually starting to be answered. Theres only so long you can carry on being mysterious and not giving any answers at all before people will just stop watching. I mean, if they gave us some answers, then those answers led to all new mysteries, that'd be fine. But giving us no answers, and then giving us even more mysterious s*** on top of that? Come on...

i thought what i said might be mis interpreted, i said sounds awsome, not looks awsome.... the reason why they've just got a few pictures of ppl running around and lots of writing flashing on the screen is because they haven't actually started filming season 2 yet, the footage in that teaser is from season 1. The reason why i said it sounds awsome is because of the fact they say there's survivors on the other side of the island, im really looking forward to seeing more areas of the island. season 1 you do get to see a few other areas but they mainly just stay at their camp, all the other areas they venture to in season 1 are really intreiging (sp?), e.g. the chamber, that huge ship stranded in the middle of the island.... i want to see more of the island and by the sounds of it, season 2 is going to deliver. So on top of that you've got all the stuff set up from the first season worked into this aswell, the chamber being blasted open, walt's kidnapping, the crazy french woman and her missing son etc. So to me, season 2 at this stage sounds like it's going to get really good.

btw, appently Samuel L Jackson was meant to be in season 1 but was cut from the show, hopefully his deleted scenes turn up on the dvd, i think he's meant to be that black womans husband, the one from the beginning of the season that was babbling on about how she know her husband was still alive somewhere.

going by the trend set by alias (what i can remember of it) they pretty much just established the characters in the first season... then the interesting s*** happened in the second season.. and it went skitzo in the third with rad stuff happening everywhere...

im only upto ep7 in season 4 of alias but imo it's pretty bloody average so far compared to previous seasons, i really hope it gets better. season1 was alright at the start but got really good towards the end, season 2 & 3 were top notch but season 4 seems to have died down... unless they're building upto something i haven't got to yet.

Season 4 is pathetic, just skip to episode 20. 20, 21, and 22 are all absolutely awesome eps, they almost make me forgive the rest of the season for being so lame.

Theres no real big over-arching storyline for most of the season, a couple of mini storylines, but nothing particularly interesting. Then at the end, maybe when the writers of Lost had finished and they could come back and write some more Alias, the last three episodes were absolutely awwwwwwwwesome.

Watch it all if you must, there are a few cool episodes here and there throughout the season, but its mostly pretty lame :(

They didn't give away anything though...
Compare it to the season finales of alias or 24, the major season plotlines were wrapped up, yet they give you a hint of what next season will be. Its how seasons should end imo.

Next season of lost will be locke building a ladder to get to the bottom of that hole, then someone will steal it.. then in the finale locke will find it again and lower it down the hole.
