My cable has gone completely haywire.
It drops in and out repeatedly, is slow as f***, and worst of all i just formatted and can't download chipset drivers cause the download always times out or stops or whatever before itsfinished! This couldn't have anything to do with new hardware on 1 computer in a network oculd it? All 3 PC's on this network that are connected to the cable are getting these dropouts and laggyness. plz dont just be me |

my telstra cable's fine, but a friend of mine who lives relatively nearby has been complaining at me today about his being broken, just as you have described it.
he rang them, and is getting a new modem |

Mine has been like that ever since they played with port 25 and the network dropped out for half the day and then again for half the day the next day. Nothing but problems. I really enjoyed the multiple drop outs every 30 mins where it would drop out .. work .. drop out .. work .. drop out .. work. Good stuff!
I just switched over to ADSL ;) |

yes.
(3/10 times; but it's still worth a shot) edit: if it's unreliable to the point of unusability, and you can prove as much.. surely they have a responsibility to at least check it out. last edited by Farseeker at 23:48:47 29/May/04 |

On the new modems they gave out?
Here dads comp was totally f***ed, would drop out and not reconnect all the time, or would get the maximum concurrent sessions, he had the telstra guys around about 5-6 times over the course of a fortnight, each trying (and failing) at various things (increasing the signal, decreasing the signal, new modems, formatting computers, trying their laptops, different hubs) etc etc etc...nothing, anyhow eventually he got some it guy that didnt work for telstra to come in and have a look, and he seemed to sort things out (I didnt ask how) I, for the life of me couldnt imagine what the problem was, especially after everything was tried. |

dont know what my problem is, maybe a bad signal but when I play games with alot of people in the server I get 20+ packet loss and ping from 70-180. I tried rining and telling them I have bad PL so they got me to ping bigpond.com of course there was no missed packets and they said stiff s*** basically. I;m thinking about doing it again and just saying that I'm loosing packets in the ping

mine was like that about a week after I got it, they fixed a broken transformer down the road, and upped my line signal strength. Now it's all good.
