Cableusers are currently orginising an online CS comp which they have dubed "Cable of Origin". Looks like its going to be a big one with over 88 teams competing, Teams are sperated into Optus @ Home and Telstra teams, to fight it out to see which service has the better players. My bets are on Telstra, with Wireplay having far more CS servers than Optus, they would get more practice. The only map being played is de_prodigy, and timelimit is 20 minutes each side. Sounds like alot of fun for all the CS Players out there, good work Martin. More info on the competition can be found on the Cableusers Site |

f***. This was the first I heard about this comp, and now the registrations are closed. Oh well, looks like those southern fags are safe from some SAS savagery. |

optus will win probably, cause 30 ms pings to optus@home servers rocks, and i got better pings to wireplay using optus than i did with bpa. Also wp has 4 cs servers which hardly anyone uses, while optus has 5 cs servers which are almost always packed. |

88 teams.....that's a lot of matches of de_prodigy, i think i would die of the boredom before the comp was over, that's rediculous, are you sure that's accurate? |

thats pretty screwed, especially since there is a $1600 dollar prize....its almost encouraging the cheaters to come out and cheat inorder to take home the money. |

Yeh thats the problem with cs comps online, just doesnt work since there is little to no cheat protection in half-life. |

Guess it will come down to who can cheat the best! see there is a degree of skill required, just not what you would imagine from a game |

yeah I suppose it stems from the fact that the comp is private, there is no one able to check up on ppl, unless they have dedicated spectators?? or recordings of games?? wheras at QGL a cheater is likely to get their head smashed in. As for the skill element, yeah who has the best programming/hacking/searching skills to find the hacks or create themselves!! |

Hi guys, This is Dean Wilson (owner of cableusers.com.au), I have just been reading your replies to this post and would to make the comment ; "Any player(s) judged to be cheating during the COO games will be disqualified along with the team he/she was playing in. And be banned from competing in any CUA competitions from that point on." Those players will also be banned from all CS Optus@Home servers in future. So as you can see, you don't want to cheat. Those that are in the COO, have fun. :) Dean Wilson www.Cableusers.com.au |

Hi dean, Good to see like the rest of Australia your a avid reader of QGL! :) Good luck with the comp, its good to see there are comps like this in aus, though saying if they are found you will ban them is a moot point, since its way to hard to prove I'm sure that through it there will be claims and counterclaims of rampant cheating, hope you guys ignore it though and keep going. all you can do is try eh? |

Hi, I have a list of site I visit everyday, QGL.org is one of them. I visit this site to see what's hot and what's NOT. BTW - Good work on the site. Back to the COO, the players will need to make recordings of their games if they see someone cheating, they will need to send it to us to look over, if we feel that the player is cheating then the action will be taken, but for those that say "he's cheating, he's cheating" in the game, well, nothing we can do unless the recording is being made. I don't think the ban is that bad, if you are cough cheating then you should be banned, Since Optus@Home are our sponsors for this tournament with $1,600 in cash plus the bandwidth and dedicated CS server (24/7) I would think that they don't want cheats on their gaming servers either. From my point, I have banned 16 people for cheating more then 3 different times. So in the COO, I hope they play fair. Just another point, there is 66 teams (33 on each side), 88 games will be played over the next 6 weeks and I will spend 56 hours watching the games, which will drive me crazy. I have my "Microsoft TCP/IP networking" 2100 page book ready. :) All that and the the finals. After new year. Dean Wilson www.Cableusers.com.au |

What would be cool is if all the people that were busted for cheating/exploits/whatever had their CDKey/WONID whatever publicly available to server admins, so they could be denied access on all Australian gaming servers... YOU HEAR THAT, CHEATERS? Muahaha! |

Yes, Big fan of The Fifth Element, Infact I use to run a 3D gallery called TFE (The first Element) but bandwidth became very expensive and it was shut down. But yes, BIG FAN. Plus the -ZORG- name is sort of evil, another reason to like it. I had "Zappa" as a name before when I was on Big Pond Advance, but wanted to start over again with Optus@Home. Yeah, trog, thats a very good idea, one I've wanted implemented for ages. Then again, with WON in control of everyones access things could become very chaotic if they suddenly stuffed something up or had a hacker break in and wreak havoc (could probably still happen). I'm not sure who owns WON, but they sure as hell tried their best to bugger things up early in Half-Lifes online life, lots of people got really irate with having their access to HL being cut-off due to WON not doing what they were supposed to do. Perhaps if they (valve) had a system like q3? Q3 has pure server options and stuff like that, id also has control of the auth server (as far as im aware). What I also find odd is the fact that CS doesn't use a pak file, which I'm told can have CRCs on them to prevent anyone tampering with the pak. And Psco, by saying what you are saying, its almost an admission of guilt. Only a cheater would call that idea extreme. An extreme idea would be something that made the cheater's home address and phone number available (kinda like a sex-offender database, only for cheating scum). |

All their implimentation of a key auth system has been plagued with problems, not just WON, ID had the same problems at the start, then they were storing the cdkey in normal format and in a q3cfg to boot. Admitedly Id's has been fixed far quicker and is IMO more effective |
