LILO has it but i'm not sure if windows does - i don't think so. It's OK if they're on two physically separate drives though. Be careful with LILO and make sure you install it on hda2's boot sector not the overall MBR since windows may not like it. Check out the HOWTO's over at www.linuxdoc.org |

The overall MBR? man wtf are you talking about Oiah, LILO is RedHat linux's bootloader, you can install it as much as you like, windows doesn't give two f***ing hoots. The best option is to install LILO to the MBR of hda1 so if you add any other OS's, you can configure LILO to load them in future. I have LILO to load dos as default after 5 seconds, linux if i type linux etc etc Each drive has their own master boot record (MBR) there is no "Overall MBR" Don't provide information that isn't correct or you will seriously f*** someone's pc up |

you can boot linux via windows2000 boot menu, its relatively easy to do, go to www.littlewhitedog.com and check the articles on dual boot linux/2k and find out |

I prefer to use the linux boot loader, that way if windows f***s up, i won't lose my linux partition (Which you do if you are like every other trustworthy linux user and don't make rescue disks because linux doesn't need rescue from itself, only microsoft) |

Nope Partitions are only deleted through fdisk in the event of the MBR being lost or formatted, windows will re-write itself to the boot record, that's why you can always access windows and it's partitions linux on the other hand needs a boot loader to access it, that's why you need a rescue disk |

Einstein if you'd RTFM you'd notice you can install LILO (it's not redhat's bootloader BTW too) in either hda (notice no number), hda1, hda2 etc - if you install it in hda it has problems sometimes with windows 2000. I used the term 'overall MBR' for lack of a better word equivalent to installing LILO in hda rather than hda1 or something. If your MBR is gone you can't do s***, windows won't even load to reinstall it's boot manager. I would have thought by now you'd have realized your pretty clueless einstein, the last post i replied to with you in it you were spouting stupid crap too. -Eds- : what sort of routing software setup do you have? |

Doober if you had any f***ing idea what you're talking about there's only one hda for eg, i have 3 drives with 2 partitions each hda1 hda2 hdb1 hdb2 hdc1 hdc2 hdxx = hard drive xxax = hard drive 1 xxx1 = partition 1 Shut the f*** up n00b, stop being a tryhard |

-Eds- Make sure all your dns and gateway settings in the linux box are correct, dns takes care of web stuff for nameservers, gateway does the UDP for games etc So i'm guessing your DNS setup is wrong check it again |

-Eds-: Basically, what Einstein said is true, but if you're using Internet Connection Sharing on the router (why you would, I dunno...), make sure you've got the network card set for DHCP |

Didn't he say it was a linux router? Don't think ICS would be doing it =) Hmm, can always try DHCP, if it doesn't work, get yourself a static IP and make sure you point all DNS and Gateways to the Server |
