Okay, so this is almost becoming a cliche, but I REALLY need help with my computer. Okay, the first thing that started happening was it would start okay, but about five seconds into loading windows, the screen would blank and the comp would inexplicably restart.
Now, I dont even get that far. After powering on, the screen stays blank. I can hear the usual HDD startup, but after that, nothing. I know the BIOS hasnt kicked in either, as my usual soft power off setting dont work (I have to hold down poer for 5 secs.)
What I have tried:
Reseating all RAM, cards etc.
Using different monitor
Removing all cards except video
Resetting repeatedly
Bashing in the monitor with a large stick
None of tehm worked (err...the last was a joke)
Finally, here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 600
128Mb RAM
Riva TNT 2 Ultra
Windows ME (no comments about how crap it is etc please)
Any extra info can be provided if needed.
Thanks in advance

that really does sound like a seating problem.

try wiggling your cards and pushing them in hardish.
esp cpu (even more so if its a slotket card) vid card and ram.

the reboot problem is a little different, sounds like a video problem but I'm definitley no expert.

Moridin

Get a new OS

Even though that doesn't explain your borked system

I suspect your BIOS has been fried, borrow someone else's mobo and do open heart surgery and see how you go

(Open heart = sitting all your bits on insulated stuff instead of screwing it all into your case)

Yeah yeah...I dont have win 2k alright. I actually had a very similar porb on my old m/b. Got it workign though, turned out to be an improperly seated CPU. Hope thats the case again, cant afford a new m/b.

it could also be your powersupply causing the rebooting thing too...
